Promarker Tests Enter Controlled Commercial Release
Proteomics International Laboratories Ltd (ASX:PIQ) has moved two of its diagnostic tests from distribution planning into a live, controlled market release, with PromarkerD and PromarkerEso becoming available in Western Australia and the Northern Territory on Monday. The launch is being delivered through Healius Limited (ASX:HLS), Proteomics International’s exclusive pathology distribution partner for the Promarker portfolio.
The initial release is deliberately limited. Proteomics International says the WA and NT phase is intended to test operational and systems readiness ahead of a broader rollout, with national commercial sales expected during Q2 FY27 if implementation activities are completed successfully. That makes the announcement a tangible commercial milestone, but not yet evidence of national adoption or a dependable revenue stream.
Private-Pay Pricing Sets an Early Revenue Framework
Patients will initially pay privately, with PromarkerD priced at $495 and PromarkerEso at $997 in Australia. PromarkerD is designed to assess the risk of diabetic kidney disease up to four years before clinical symptoms appear, while PromarkerEso assists in ruling out oesophageal cancer in patients with chronic reflux.
The company has not provided revenue guidance, saying the income that may be generated under the Healius arrangement cannot yet be reliably estimated. The most immediate commercial variables are therefore practical ones: whether clinicians refer patients, whether patients pay for testing, and how smoothly specimens and results move through the combined Healius and Proteomics operating model.
Healius Provides the National Distribution Infrastructure
Healius will handle specimen collection, pathology distribution and commercial delivery to primary care and specialist referrers through approximately 1,900 collection centres and established partner relationships. Proteomics International will retain responsibility for laboratory testing, clinical reporting, scientific support, and quality and regulatory compliance. The structure gives PIQ a national pathway without requiring it to build its own specimen collection network.
PromarkerEndo Remains a Separate Clinical Milestone
PromarkerEndo, the company’s test intended to assist in diagnosing endometriosis, is not part of the initial controlled release. Assay refinement and validation are continuing, with the next clinical milestone conditional on successful completion of the validation program. That leaves the portfolio with two tests entering commercial use while the third remains dependent on further technical and clinical work.
