Red Mountain Expands Montana Tungsten Story With Strong New Surface Results

Red Mountain Mining has reported widespread tungsten mineralisation from surface sampling at its Pioneer project in Montana, including results of up to 0.55% WO3. The expanded 517-hectare project also returned high-grade copper, silver and gold assays, setting up further fieldwork before potential drilling.

Red Mountain Mining Ltd (ASX:RMX) has found tungsten mineralisation across all three sampled prospects at its Pioneer Tungsten Project in Montana, with 50 rock chip samples returning more than 500 parts per million WO3 and 31 exceeding 1,000ppm. The strongest result was 5,473ppm, or 0.55% WO3, at Greenstone, alongside 0.40% at Glow Worm and 0.32% at Lost Creek.

Tungsten Results Define Priority Surface Zones

The results came from reconnaissance rock chip, float and historical workings spoil samples, rather than drilling. At Greenstone, 30 of 113 rock-related samples exceeded 500ppm WO3, including 17 above 1,000ppm. Mineralisation appears most consistent over roughly 400 metres immediately south-southwest of the Greenstone mine claim, an area Red Mountain identifies as a priority drill target.

Glow Worm returned 12 samples above 500ppm WO3 from 57 rock-related samples, with eight above 1,000ppm. Seven of 23 soil samples also exceeded 50ppm WO3, although soil results are used as indicators of nearby mineralisation rather than measures of grade or continuity. At Lost Creek, eight of 13 rock-related samples exceeded 500ppm and six topped 1,000ppm, with mineralisation extending into an area that remains only lightly sampled.

Copper, Silver and Gold Add Polymetallic Potential

The tungsten results were accompanied by substantial base and precious metal assays, particularly around northern Greenstone and Glow Worm. Greenstone produced maximum grades of 6.72% copper, 462 grams per tonne silver and 3.88 grams per tonne gold. Glow Worm returned up to 3.97% copper, 199g/t silver and 0.81g/t gold.

The strongest tungsten zones at southern Greenstone and Lost Creek were comparatively low in copper, silver and gold. Red Mountain says that separation may indicate portions of the skarn system dominated by tungsten, though that interpretation remains geological and the sampling does not establish the scale or economic significance of the mineralisation.

Expanded Claims Point Towards October Field Program

Red Mountain has more than doubled Pioneer’s footprint to 517 hectares after staking additional ground along the margin of the Mount Torrey Batholith. The project now covers the Greenstone, Glow Worm, Lost Creek and Mammoth prospects, adjacent to Almonty Industries’ Gentung tungsten deposit, which has a reported resource of 6.83 million tonnes at 0.315% WO3.

The company plans further mapping and sampling in October, including work across largely unexplored areas at Mammoth and Lost Creek. It will then rank targets for drilling, with southern Greenstone and northern Lost Creek likely to receive priority based on the latest surface results. That next stage matters because the current assays were collected selectively around mapped garnet skarn, with no duplicate samples or blind standards submitted, and cannot demonstrate continuity or support a mineral resource.

The assay pattern strengthens Pioneer’s exploration case, but drilling must now show whether high-grade surface indications extend at depth and across meaningful widths.
