Evergold Uncovers Vanguard Gold Zone Near Duchess of York

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Evergold Minerals has identified a new shallow gold-mineralised zone 600m northwest of the Duchess of York main zone in Western Australia. The Vanguard discovery will now be tested through resource-definition RC drilling planned for October.

  • 19m at 0.86 g/t gold from 28m, including 4m at 2.37 g/t
  • New Vanguard zone interpreted across a 250m east-west footprint
  • Mineralisation remains open north-northeast, southwest and at depth
  • RC drilling planned for October ahead of a targeted early 2027 resource estimate

Vanguard Adds a Second Gold Focus

Evergold Minerals Limited (ASX:EG1) has found a new shallow gold zone 600m northwest of Duchess of York, giving the Mt Monger project a fresh exploration target just as the company prepares to move from broad testing into resource-definition drilling.

Named Vanguard, the zone returned mineralisation in three adjacent aircore holes spaced 50m apart. The strongest result was 19m at 0.86 g/t gold from 28m in MM26AC0022, including 4m at 2.37 g/t from 40m. Nearby holes delivered 9m at 1.01 g/t from 24m and 4m at 0.65 g/t from 16m.

Drilling Links Shallow and Deeper Mineralisation

Evergold interprets the new aircore results as the shallow western extension of gold intersected by historical RC drilling immediately to the east. Combining the two campaigns produces an interpreted mineralised footprint of about 250m from west to east, stretching from within 16m of surface to roughly 70m depth.

The interpretation also extends about 250m north-northeast to hole MM26AC0003, which returned 8m at 0.58 g/t from surface. The anomaly remains open towards the north-northeast, southwest and at depth. Evergold says the geology resembles the Duchess of York main zone, with stockwork quartz veining at a porphyry-sediment contact and visible sulphides in the veined intervals.

October RC Program Will Test the Model

The result is encouraging, but it remains an early-stage exploration interpretation rather than a resource. The reported intervals are downhole lengths from 4m composite aircore samples, so the distribution of grade within each composite and the true widths of the mineralisation are not yet known. The company says follow-up RC drilling with 1m sampling will address those gaps.

Vanguard has been added to the Duchess of York resource-definition RC program scheduled to begin in October. The program is intended to define continuity, geometry and grade distribution across both the main zone and Vanguard, with Evergold targeting a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate in early 2027. That timing remains dependent on drilling and estimation work, and the company has stated there is no certainty that a resource will be defined. Historical RC assays used in the interpretation also have not been independently verified by Evergold and are due for confirmation through follow-up drilling.

Bottom Line?

Vanguard broadens the Duchess of York story, but October’s 1m RC results will determine whether the interpreted footprint translates into a coherent resource target.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will RC drilling confirm the continuity and true widths implied by the 4m composite aircore results?
  • How far does Vanguard extend into the currently untested southwest and deeper areas?
  • Can Vanguard contribute meaningfully to the maiden Mineral Resource Estimate targeted for early 2027?
