OD6 finds high-grade fluorspar link between Nevada targets

OD6 Metals has identified high-grade fluorspar at North Horseshoe Canyon in Nevada, with selective rock-chip assays reaching 60% CaF2. The results expand an interpreted 1.5-kilometre target corridor linking the Horseshoe and Big Jim areas, but drilling is still needed to establish continuity, thickness and scale.

OD6 Metals Limited (ASX:OD6) has found high-grade fluorspar at North Horseshoe Canyon in Nevada, with a selective rock-chip sample returning 60.0% calcium fluoride, or CaF2. The result sits within a newly defined target area that could connect OD6's Horseshoe and Big Jim prospects along an interpreted 1.5-kilometre mineralised corridor.

High-grade samples define North Horseshoe target

Reconnaissance sampling at North Horseshoe returned further strong results of 57.3%, 51.0%, 21.4% and 18.5% CaF2. The mineralisation is exposed over roughly 100 metres of strike, while a sample collected about 200 metres farther north returned 6.2% CaF2, indicating the zone may continue beneath talus cover.

A separate sample collected approximately 150 metres south of the main North Horseshoe outcrop returned 60.0% CaF2. OD6 says that location lies along strike from Horseshoe, about 450 metres away, and could represent a continuation of the Horseshoe system, North Horseshoe, or both. The exposed zone's thickness remains unknown because its base is concealed.

Saw Mill Thrust creates larger exploration corridor

OD6's geological interpretation places North Horseshoe on the Saw Mill Thrust, a structure that also hosts the Big Jim mineralisation approximately 750 metres to the northeast. The company says Big Jim and North Horseshoe are the only two locations where the thrust reliably outcrops, and both are associated with strong fluorspar mineralisation. That observation underpins the proposed target corridor from Horseshoe through North Horseshoe Canyon to Big Jim and Spar.

The company is also pointing to an oxidised felsic intrusive near North Horseshoe. While OD6 does not regard the intrusive itself as a target, samples from it contained 0.3% to 0.4% CaF2, with stronger fluorine pathfinders in soils along its contact. The contact zone forms part of the northeast extensional target associated with Horseshoe.

Drilling remains the critical test

OD6 plans to target the mineralised ground west of North Horseshoe, the interpreted continuation beneath the lithocap towards Big Jim, and the corridor between Horseshoe and North Horseshoe. The release does not report drilling, mineralised widths, a resource estimate or demonstrated continuity for the new zone. The reported samples are selective rock chips, and OD6's JORC table states that the data are insufficient for mineral resource estimation.

The Quinn project comprises 226 Nevada mining claims covering approximately 1,890 hectares, and future drilling requires approval through the US Forest Service. The immediate question is therefore not whether the surface grades are eye-catching, but whether they translate into coherent, drillable mineralisation beneath cover across the proposed corridor.

Bottom Line?

The surface grades strengthen OD6's geological case at Quinn, but the investment story now depends on permitting and whether drilling converts isolated outcrops into a continuous mineralised system.
