Resonance Health Takes Its MRI Endpoints Global Through IAG Partnership

Resonance Health has signed a 24-month alliance with London-based Image Analysis Group, making its quantitative MRI endpoints orderable across IAG’s global clinical-trial network. The opportunity is potentially significant, but remains uncontracted: two pilot studies come first, with no minimum revenue or volume commitments.

  • MRI endpoints added to IAG’s global imaging proposals
  • Access to DYNAMIKA platform and international reader network
  • Australian clinical-trial delivery pathway for IAG customers
  • Two pilot studies will test the commercial workflow
  • No guaranteed revenue, volumes or customer commitments

IAG Alliance Extends Resonance’s Global Distribution

Resonance Health Limited (ASX:RHT) has secured a route into a much larger clinical-trial network without building one from scratch. Its strategic alliance and master services agreement with Image Analysis Group will make FerriScan, FerriSmart, HepaFatScan, HepaFatSmart, LiverSmart and CardiacT2* orderable endpoints within IAG’s worldwide imaging business.

London-headquartered IAG says its DYNAMIKA platform has supported more than 700 clinical trials since 2007 across the UK, European Union, United States, India, China and Australia. Under the two-way arrangement, Resonance retains analysis and oversight through its ISO 13485-certified core laboratory, while gaining access to IAG’s broader imaging infrastructure, cloud platform and global reader network for multimodality studies.

Australian Trial Services Add a Second Commercial Channel

The partnership also gives IAG’s overseas pharmaceutical customers an Australian delivery pathway through Resonance’s businesses. That can include feasibility work, ethics processes, local sponsorship, clinical-trial execution through the TrialsWest site network and advisory support for eligible research and development activities that may qualify for Australia’s R&D Tax Incentive.

The strategic logic is clearest in obesity and metabolic disease, where the companies are targeting measurements beyond body weight. IAG’s DXA body-composition and muscle-imaging workflows can sit alongside Resonance’s quantitative MRI capabilities for visceral and subcutaneous fat, liver fat, and muscle assessment. Resonance says muscle mass and muscle quality applications remain in development, while its non-invasive MRI Liver Fibrosis device is progressing through an extended proof-of-concept trial that is now fully enrolled.

Pilot Studies Will Determine Commercial Traction

For shareholders, the important qualification is that this is a distribution framework rather than a booked contract. The first two work orders will be pilot studies intended to streamline workflows and assess whether the agreement should continue. Any customer engagement must then be documented through separate work orders specifying the services, budget, costs and delivery timetable.

The agreement runs for an initial 24 months and renews in 12-month periods unless either party opts out. It is non-exclusive, carries no minimum volume or revenue commitments, and can be terminated by either side on 90 days’ notice, although work already under way would continue to completion. Resonance said the financial impact cannot yet be reliably quantified.

That leaves the alliance’s value tied to conversion: whether IAG’s sponsor relationships generate paid work orders, how large those orders become and whether the pilot process proves efficient enough for repeated use. Resonance reported group revenue rising from $4 million in FY23 to $15.8 million in FY26, but this agreement does not yet add a disclosed figure to that trajectory.

Bottom Line?

The alliance broadens Resonance’s international reach, but the next meaningful evidence will be paid work orders and pilot conversion rather than the agreement itself.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the two pilot studies convert into recurring work orders from IAG’s pharmaceutical customers?
  • How much demand will Resonance’s MRI endpoints attract within IAG’s multimodality trial programmes?
  • Can the Australian delivery offering generate material inbound work alongside Resonance Clinical and TrialsWest?
