Cavalier builds Crawford momentum despite delayed project financing
Cavalier Resources is advancing site preparation, contractor negotiations and recruitment at its Crawford Gold Project, but its financing remains unfinished after Javelin Global Commodities’ exclusivity period expired. Shareholders have also approved a A$60,000 share subscription by interim CEO Daniel Tuffin.
- A$60,000 director share subscription approved at A$0.30

- First draft mining services agreement prepared with SSH Mining
- Geotechnical test pits and further site works planned at Crawford
- Recruitment begins for heap leach construction leadership
Crawford advances while financing remains unfinished
Cavalier Resources Limited (ASX:CVR) is preparing for more construction and pre-production work at Crawford, even as negotiations over the project’s Stage 1 financing continue beyond the company’s original expectations. The exclusivity period attached to proposed financing arrangements with Javelin Global Commodities has expired, while a binding term sheet with Ottomin remains in effect.
The company said it continues to negotiate with both parties, but gave no financing amount, completion date or final structure in its 22 September update. That leaves the next financing milestone as the more consequential question behind the operational activity now gathering pace at site.
Director subscription approved by shareholders
Shareholders approved interim CEO and Executive Technical Director Daniel Tuffin’s application to subscribe for 200,000 fully paid ordinary shares at A$0.30 each, a total investment of A$60,000. Cavalier said the price represented a premium to the prevailing market price, although the announcement did not state the reference market price.
“Our focus remains firmly on execution, putting the people, contractors and infrastructure in place to support Cavalier’s transition from developer to miner,” Tuffin said (ASX:CVR). The approval gives the executive a larger direct holding, but it does not resolve the separate funding requirements for the Crawford development.
SSH Mining agreement reaches first draft
Cavalier and preferred mining contractor SSH Mining have progressed the proposed Stage 1 mining services arrangements to a first draft Mining Services Agreement. The draft contract and accompanying scope of work are now moving through Cavalier’s internal review before further discussions with SSH on commercial and operational terms.
The agreement is therefore not yet final. Its progression is a practical step towards Stage 1 mining, but the announcement stops short of confirming binding terms, mobilisation dates or a start date for operations.
Heap leach preparation and recruitment begin
Further plant and equipment is expected at Crawford shortly, with local contractors being lined up for additional pre-production civil works. Those works are set to include geotechnical test pits within the planned heap leach pad area, while Cavalier has started recruiting a Project Manager for Heap Leach Construction and identifying other construction personnel and contractors.
The filing presents a project moving from planning towards physical execution, but the sequence still depends on several unfinished pieces: a completed financing package, final mining services terms and the appointment of the team responsible for heap leach delivery. Cavalier’s next material update will need to show whether those workstreams are converging quickly enough to support its intended move into Stage 1 mining and production.
Bottom Line?
Crawford is acquiring the machinery, contractors and personnel of a mine, but financing completion remains the key test before that preparation can translate into production.
Questions in the middle?
- Will Cavalier finalise financing with Javelin, Ottomin or a revised combination of arrangements?
- When will the proposed SSH Mining agreement become binding, and what operational terms will it contain?
- Can heap leach construction and Stage 1 mining proceed on schedule once funding is finalised?
