Kantra Uncovers Deeper Copper-Gold Potential at Nugent
Kantra Copper has intersected 70 metres at 1.18% copper and 0.24 grams per tonne gold at the Nugent lode, extending mineralisation below its existing resource model. The results arrive ahead of a 2026 Mineral Resource Estimate scheduled for late October.
- 70m at 1.18% copper and 0.24g/t gold in hole 26KVUG0949
- Mineralisation confirmed 70m below the 2025 MRE
- Drilling reaches 370m below the current stoping horizon
- Possible second sub-parallel mineralised lens identified
- 2026 MRE expected in late October
70m Intercept Extends Nugent at Depth
A 70-metre copper-gold intersection has given Kantra Copper Limited (ASX:KAN) its clearest evidence yet that the Nugent lode continues below the existing resource model. Hole 26KVUG0949 returned 70m at 1.18% copper and 0.24 grams per tonne gold from 507m downhole, including a 38m section grading 1.46% copper and 0.18g/t gold.
The interval is reported as a downhole length, rather than a confirmed true width, because of the drill angle. Even with that qualification, the result sits alongside several other notable intersections: 13m at 0.92% copper and 0.06g/t gold in 26KVUG0950, 7.2m at 1.12% copper in 26KVUG0948, and 7m at 1.74% copper in 26KVUG0947. Hole 25KVUG0632 also returned 8.44m at 0.83% copper and 0.95g/t gold.
Mineralisation Sits Beyond Current Mine Design
Kantra said the deep drilling confirmed continuity of the Nugent system 70m below the 2025 Mineral Resource Estimate and 370m below the current stoping horizon at the 950 Level. The company’s chief executive and managing director, Bob Fulker, said the results demonstrated the lode’s growth potential and highlighted opportunities to expand resources at depth.
Nugent is a structurally controlled corridor on the south-western edge of the Kanmantoo deposit, with discrete mineralised pods along strike and generally higher gold grades than other parts of the operation. The latest drilling has also refined the geological interpretation, including a brittle joint zone at the north-eastern end of the system and a change in structure around 640m RL that may represent a second mineralised lens running roughly parallel to the main Nugent structure.
Late October Resource Update Sets the Test
Kantra completed 38,535m of underground diamond drilling in 2026 through the end of August, including 12,024m at Nugent across grade-control and resource-definition programs. The company expects its 2026 MRE to incorporate about 80,000m of drilling, including work completed during the second half of 2025, with release scheduled for late October.
Results from holes 26KVUG0958 and 26KVUG0959 arrived after the MRE cut-off and therefore will not be included in that estimate. Follow-up drilling is planned to test the possible second lens and improve the interpretation of Nugent’s structure at depth. The upcoming resource statement will show whether these strong intersections translate into additional tonnes that can support future stope design and mine planning, rather than remaining promising but isolated drill results.
Bottom Line?
The drilling has expanded the geological story at Nugent; the late-October MRE will determine how much of that story enters the mineable resource base.
Questions in the middle?
- How much additional copper and gold will the 2026 MRE add at Nugent?
- Will follow-up drilling confirm the interpreted second sub-parallel mineralised lens?
- Can the deep mineralisation support practical stope designs and future mine planning?
