MRE units remain suspended until audited accounts are lodged

Metrics Real Estate Multi-Strategy Fund units will remain suspended on ASX after the fund failed to lodge its audited financial statements. Reinstatement now depends on the accounts being filed and ASX deciding that trading can resume appropriately.

  • Audited financial statements have not yet been lodged
  • Initial suspension began at MRE’s request on 28 September
  • No timetable for lodgement or reinstatement was provided

ASX extends MRE trading suspension

Metrics Real Estate Multi-Strategy Fund (ASX:MRE) will remain off the ASX boards because its audited financial statements have not been lodged. ASX Supervision said on 1 October that the securities would continue to be suspended under Listing Rule 17.5.

The suspension began at MRE’s request under Listing Rule 17.2 on 28 September. The latest notice turns that initially requested halt into an ongoing exchange-imposed suspension, removing any immediate path back to normal trading.

Financial statements are the gateway to reinstatement

MRE must first lodge its audited financial statements. Even then, ASX has made clear that filing the accounts alone will not automatically restore quotation: the exchange must also determine that reinstatement is otherwise appropriate.

The announcement gives no timetable for the accounts or for a possible return to trading, and does not explain the reason for the reporting delay. That leaves investors without a defined catalyst beyond the eventual financial-statement lodgement and ASX’s subsequent decision.

Suspension keeps valuation questions unresolved

Until the accounts are available and quotation is reinstated, MRE holders cannot trade the listed securities on ASX. The filing does not disclose a new loss, asset-value change or operational event, but the absence of audited accounts means the market has no confirmed date for resolving the reporting uncertainty.

Bottom Line?

The next decisive event is not a trading update but the audited accounts themselves, followed by ASX’s separate judgement on reinstatement.

Questions in the middle?

  • When will MRE lodge its audited financial statements?
  • What has caused the delay in completing the audited accounts?
  • Will ASX consider reinstatement appropriate once the statements are filed?
