KalGold maps a 2km gold trend at Pinjin for deeper testing

Kalgoorlie Gold Mining has identified multiple coherent gold-in-regolith anomalies across the first 225-hole aircore test of its LTZ Flexure target at Pinjin. The strongest exploration signal stretches up to 2km, but primary gold mineralisation at depth remains unconfirmed.

  • 225 aircore holes completed for 7,212 metres
  • Multiple gold-in-regolith zones defined above a 20 ppb threshold
  • Northern anomalous trend extends up to 2km of strike
  • Three reported intercepts returned up to 0.378 g/t gold
  • RC drilling and Rebecca Sequence aircore drilling planned

Kalgoorlie Gold Mining (ASX:KAL) has turned a previously untested section of its Pinjin Gold Project into a set of drill targets, with first-pass aircore drilling outlining multiple coherent gold anomalies across the LTZ Flexure. One anomalous trend extends for up to 2km of strike, giving KalGold a sizeable exploration footprint to test beneath the shallow regolith.

225-Hole Program Defines Gold Targets

The company completed 225 aircore holes for 7,212 metres, with holes averaging 32 metres deep. Drilling encountered 5 to 30 metres of transported cover over deeply weathered Archean basement, while the cover generally thickened southwards towards the Lake Rebecca palaeochannel system.

Individual assays were generally subdued, as would be expected from a shallow first-pass program, but the cumulative down-hole response produced the more important result: several zones of anomalism extending over hundreds of metres. KalGold used a cumulative gold threshold of 20 parts per billion to define targets, roughly 10 to 20 times the stated regional background in Yilgarn laterite and ferricrete.

Three intercepts were reported above the company’s 0.1 grams per tonne lower cut-off: 1 metre at 0.196 g/t gold from 40 metres in KGAC26094; 1 metre at 0.378 g/t from 41 metres in KGAC26188; and 4 metres at 0.167 g/t from 36 metres in KGAC26189. These are exploration intercepts in aircore holes, not a resource estimate, and the reported widths are down-hole lengths rather than true widths.

Structure and Geochemistry Guide Follow-Up

The anomalous zones broadly track magnetic units, interpreted fault offsets and areas of reduced or variable magnetic response. KalGold says those relationships may provide vectors towards primary orogenic gold mineralisation at depth, although the current program has not established that the shallow anomalies connect to economic bedrock mineralisation.

The geology also brings the Rebecca Sequence into focus. Limited drilling in the north-east of the grid returned low-level gold anomalism alongside a possible antimony association, while anomalism in the Pinjin Sequence showed a stronger association with arsenic. The Rebecca Sequence hosts gold mineralisation at Ramelius Resources’ (ASX:RMS) Rebecca Gold Project about 16km to the south along strike, making the sequence a clear target for KalGold’s next aircore campaign.

RC and Rebecca Drilling Face Weather Delay

KalGold plans deeper RC drilling to test the LTZ Flexure anomalies for primary mineralisation. It also intends to begin first-pass aircore drilling of the Rebecca Sequence around mid-October, while follow-up RC drilling at Lighthorse, roughly 3km north-west of the LTZ Flexure, is scheduled for around 10 October.

Those dates are not firm. Heavy rainfall across the Pinjin area in late September closed roads in the Eastern Goldfields, and access depends on the reopening of the Kurnalpi-Pinjin Road. The next meaningful test is therefore not simply whether more anomalism appears, but whether deeper drilling can convert a broad geochemical pattern into continuous gold-bearing bedrock.

Bottom Line?

The LTZ Flexure has produced a compelling target map, but the investment case still turns on whether RC drilling confirms primary gold beneath the shallow regolith response.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the 2km anomalous trend produce continuous primary gold mineralisation in deeper RC holes?
  • Does the antimony association make the Rebecca Sequence a reliable targeting vector?
  • How materially will rainfall and road access affect the timing of the October drilling programs?
