48 claims and $817,000 cash shape Altitude’s Nevada drilling push

Altitude Minerals is abandoning its Byrock copper-gold earn-in after disappointing assays and redirecting exploration towards drill-ready silver and gold targets in Nevada. The pivot comes with $817,000 in cash, 1.5 quarters of estimated funding and further capital still to be secured.

  • Byrock earn-in and JV exit after weak copper-gold drilling results
  • Firenze prepared for a planned 2,100-metre RC program
  • W-Project expanded to 48 claims ahead of potential combined drilling
  • $1.215 million placement completed, with a further $1.487 million entitlement offer open
  • $817,000 cash balance equates to 1.5 quarters of estimated funding

Byrock Exit Clears the Deck for Nevada

Altitude Minerals Ltd (ASX:ATT) is walking away from its Byrock copper-gold earn-in in New South Wales after drilling failed to meet the company’s technical thresholds, sharpening the explorer’s focus on silver and gold targets in Nevada. The decision followed 1,501 metres of drilling across five holes, including an RC program and a diamond-core tail, with no significant copper mineralisation returned and only minor gold.

The best reported RC result was 27 metres at 0.06 grams per tonne gold from 42 metres in hole 26BY04. Drilling did confirm the interpreted pipe-like structures at depth, but the rocks encountered appeared younger and less fractionated than the felsic intrusives Altitude was targeting. Assays for the diamond tail were still pending at 30 September, although the company has already elected to withdraw from the earn-in and joint venture and plans to relinquish two adjacent tenements. The result closes out the Byrock drilling program that had been scheduled to test three high-priority targets.

Firenze Moves Towards a 2,100-Metre Drill Test

In Nevada, the emphasis is more constructive but remains exploration-stage. Altitude says its 100%-owned Firenze silver and gold project is drill-ready, with access tracks, drill pads, regulatory requirements and other site preparations completed. The company is planning a 2,100-metre reverse-circulation program and is working towards combining Firenze drilling with work at the W-Project during the fourth quarter.

Firenze has never been drilled, despite historical rock-chip samples reaching up to 1,825 grams per tonne silver and 44 grams per tonne gold. Altitude’s mapping, CSAMT and magnetic surveys have expanded the interpreted target corridor to about 1.2 kilometres of strike. The company interprets the surface data as potentially consistent with a deeper boiling zone at roughly 100 to 250 metres, but that interpretation will only be tested when drilling and assays provide direct subsurface evidence.

W-Project Grows to 48 Claims Ahead of Target Ranking

Altitude also staked 15 additional claims on the western edge of the W-Project, taking the land package to 48 claims. The project remains subject to an option-to-purchase or earn-in arrangement, and the company is using CSAMT, magnetic surveys, mapping and sampling to rank targets before committing to drilling.

Historical drilling intersected gold mineralisation in 40 of 43 holes, while an outcropping low-sulphidation epithermal vein system extends for about 1,800 metres and has not been tested at depth. Those historical results are not the same as a current mineral resource, and Altitude’s hypothesis that earlier work missed higher-grade feeder or boiling zones remains untested. A combined Nevada program is intended to use capital and field resources more efficiently if the W-Project reaches drill-ready status.

Capital Raising Runs Ahead of a Short Cash Runway

The Nevada strategy is being funded through a $1.215 million placement at $0.005 a share, alongside a two-for-three non-renounceable entitlement offer seeking a further $1.487 million on the same terms. The company has also reported firm commitments of $880,000 for the second placement tranche, subject to shareholder approval. The $1.487 million entitlement offer was previously described as ununderwritten and unlikely to be fully subscribed, making the eventual amount raised important to the scale and timing of drilling.

Altitude ended September with $817,000 in cash after $551,000 of net operating cash outflow for the quarter, including $315,000 on exploration and evaluation. Its Appendix 5B estimates 1.5 quarters of funding at the current rate of relevant outgoings. The company says it expects to continue operations following the planned fundraising, while reserving the option to reduce corporate expenditure and other activities if funding is insufficient. For shareholders, the immediate test is therefore not simply whether Nevada offers compelling geology, but whether the capital arrives soon enough to convert the targets into drill results.

Bottom Line?

Nevada drilling is now the main value catalyst, but the company’s 1.5-quarter cash estimate leaves little room for fundraising delays or cost overruns.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will shareholder approval and the entitlement offer provide enough funding to complete the planned Nevada drilling program?
  • Can Firenze drilling validate the interpreted deeper high-grade target zone suggested by surface sampling and geophysics?
  • Will the W-Project option or earn-in progress to drilling, and what terms will govern Altitude’s eventual ownership?
