Turaco’s Woulo Woulo drilling opens a deeper high-grade gold zone
Turaco Gold has reported one of its strongest Woulo Woulo intercepts, with 56 metres at 3.87g/t gold including 16 metres at 10.19g/t. The results extend a high-grade structural shoot beneath the existing resource and trigger another six-hole deep drilling campaign.
- 56m at 3.87g/t gold from 266m, including 16m at 10.19g/t
- High-grade shoot interpreted over 700m along strike and 500m down plunge
- Results sit beneath Woulo Woulo’s 1.7Moz resource and current open-pit design
- Further six-hole deep drilling program has commenced
- Afema resource update remains scheduled for Q4 2026

High-grade shoot strengthens beneath Woulo Woulo
Turaco Gold Limited (ASX:TCG) has produced one of its standout Woulo Woulo results to date, returning 56 metres at 3.87g/t gold from 266 metres, including a 16-metre interval at 10.19g/t in diamond hole WOUDD0252. The result came from the central-northern portion of the deposit, where Turaco is testing an interpreted higher-grade shoot.
One-metre assays inside the high-grade interval included grades of 26.76g/t, 31.20g/t and 39.09g/t, although the headline intersections remain downhole lengths rather than true widths. Turaco estimates true thickness at roughly 65% to 75% of the reported downhole intervals.
Drilling extends mineralisation below the existing resource
Three of the five latest holes were drilled within the interpreted shoot. Results also included 59 metres at 1.67g/t from 255 metres in WOUDD0254 and 67 metres at 1.03g/t from 369 metres in WOUDD0251, with a 26-metre interval at 1.45g/t.
The new drilling adds to a developing picture of continuous higher-grade mineralisation extending about 700 metres along strike and 500 metres down plunge. An earlier 250m deep extension had already pushed the interpreted zone more than 250 metres vertically below an earlier hole, which returned 100 metres at 1.06g/t gold from 495 metres.
Turaco’s interpretation places the strongest mineralisation near the western margin of the roughly three-kilometre-long deposit. The company attributes the continuity to a south-plunging flexure and associated fracturing in the rhyolitic host rock, with additional grade concentration along a shallower north-plunging structural trend.
Resource growth remains prospective, not yet delivered
Woulo Woulo currently contains 53.5 million tonnes at 1.0g/t gold for 1.7 million ounces, constrained within an open-pit shell at a 0.5g/t cut-off. The latest intercepts sit beneath the current resource and the existing PFS open-pit design, giving Turaco a stated basis to assess pit expansion and possible underground resources.
That is potential rather than a revised inventory. The drill results have not yet changed the declared resource or reserve, and the company’s next Afema resource update is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. It will form part of the technical foundation for the Definitive Feasibility Study, alongside ongoing resource-extension drilling at Asupiri-Adiopan and Begnopan, where Turaco has also reported growth.
Six more deep holes target the Woulo Woulo structure
Turaco has mobilised a second diamond-drilling rig and begun a six-hole follow-up program at Woulo Woulo. The campaign should test whether the stronger grades and broad mineralised widths continue through the interpreted structural corridor, rather than representing isolated high-grade pockets.
The project is moving on two tracks: resource definition below and around the existing pits, and permitting for the broader Afema development. Turaco expects to submit its Environmental and Social Impact Assessment to Côte d’Ivoire’s Department of Environment later this month. The important test now is whether the next drilling and the Q4 resource model convert this encouraging geometry into additional classified resources and mineable inventory.
Bottom Line?
The drilling has improved the geological case for a larger Woulo Woulo system, but the investment significance depends on whether the upcoming resource update can convert deep exploration results into economic inventory.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the next six deep holes confirm continuous grade and width through the 700-metre structural shoot?
- How much of the newly defined mineralisation can be incorporated into the Q4 2026 Afema resource update?
- Could deeper ounces support an underground development case without weakening the existing open-pit study assumptions?
