Kingfisher secures premium-priced funding for Copper Blow exploration

Kingfisher Mining will raise $2.25 million through a two-tranche placement to fund drilling and target generation at its Copper Blow copper-gold project and across its Broken Hill portfolio. The deal comes at a 5.6% premium to the company’s 15-day VWAP, but the second tranche and broker options still require shareholder approval.

  • $2.25 million placement at $0.075 per share
  • Approximately 30 million new shares and 10 million attaching options
  • Funds directed towards the 4km Copper Blow trend and Broken Hill exploration
  • Second $1.45 million tranche subject to shareholder approval
  • Issue price represents a 5.6% premium to the 15-day VWAP

$2.25 Million Placement Targets Copper Blow

Kingfisher Mining Limited (ASX:KFM) has secured firm commitments for a $2.25 million placement, giving the junior explorer fresh funding to test the largely undrilled sections of its 4km Copper Blow magnetic trend near Broken Hill in New South Wales.

The company will issue approximately 30 million shares at $0.075 each, a 5.6% premium to its 15-day VWAP. Participants will also receive one free option for every three shares subscribed, with the options exercisable at $0.10 and expiring on 24 November 2028.

The raise follows July Copper Blow drilling, which reported a 26-metre intersection grading 2.57% copper and 0.75 grams per tonne gold, including 13 metres at 4.07% copper and 1.20 grams per tonne gold. Those results came from the part of the project that has received the most recent drilling, while approximately 3 kilometres of the broader magnetic trend remains largely untested.

Two Tranches Create an Approval Test

Kingfisher plans to issue approximately 10.67 million shares under its existing ASX placement capacity, raising about $800,000. A further 19.33 million shares are intended to raise approximately $1.45 million, subject to shareholder approval at a general meeting expected in December.

On the company’s indicative figures, the placement would increase ordinary shares on issue from 104.1 million to approximately 134.1 million before considering the separate options. The attaching options would add 10 million securities, while a further 6 million broker options for joint lead managers Cygnet Capital and CPS Capital Group also require approval. The structure therefore provides near-term exploration funding while leaving shareholders to decide on a substantial part of the proposed capital expansion.

Exploration Pipeline Extends Beyond Copper Blow

Most of the funds will go towards exploration, drilling and target generation at Copper Blow, supported by recent geophysical work and historical geological and geochemical data. Kingfisher also intends to continue exploring its wider Broken Hill portfolio for lead-zinc-silver and other base-metal opportunities.

The financing arrives after an FY2026 funding requirement was identified alongside a $1.21 million cash balance and a stated need for future funding. Managing Director Chris Bittar said the premium-priced placement reflected support from existing shareholders as well as new sophisticated and professional investors, while describing the broader Copper Blow trend as a significant exploration opportunity.

Tranche 1 is scheduled for settlement on 23 October, with allotment expected on 26 October. The more consequential milestone is the shareholder vote: without approval for Tranche 2, Kingfisher would receive materially less than the announced $2.25 million and have less capital available for the exploration program it has outlined.

Bottom Line?

The raise funds the next Copper Blow campaign, but the exploration runway ultimately depends on shareholder approval and whether drilling converts geological promise into a defined resource.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will shareholders approve the second tranche and the proposed 6 million broker options?
  • How much of the $2.25 million will be allocated to drilling versus geophysics, target generation and working capital?
  • Can further drilling extend the high-grade copper-gold mineralisation across the largely untested sections of the Copper Blow trend?
