Firebrick Pharma has secured Philippine marketing approval for Nasodine Nasal Spray as an over-the-counter antiseptic, opening a potential launch in the 116 million-person market from early 2027. The approval remains subject to post-approval documentation and future revalidation.
- Philippines Food and Drug Administration approval secured
- Nasodine classified as an over-the-counter antiseptic
- Potential commercial launch as early as Q1 2027
- Initial approval valid until 24 September 2028
- SV More responsible for post-approval requirements
Philippine approval opens a new OTC market
Firebrick Pharma Limited (ASX:FRE) has cleared a significant regulatory hurdle for Nasodine Nasal Spray, with the Philippines Food and Drug Administration approving the product for marketing as an over-the-counter antiseptic.
The approval gives Firebrick and its Philippine licensing partner, SV More Corporation, a defined route towards commercialisation in a country with approximately 116 million people. Firebrick says the market is the second largest in Southeast Asia, although the announcement does not provide sales forecasts, pricing details or expected revenue from the launch.
Nasodine approved for infection-related uses
The approved packaging describes Nasodine as a “nasal antiseptic designed to help reduce bacteria, viruses and fungi in the nose”. Its permitted uses include nasal infections, exposure to likely sources of respiratory infections, and cold or flu-like symptoms where the product may help reduce the spread of infection to others.
The regulatory milestone follows a period in which the Philippines remained one of Firebrick’s outstanding approval targets. The company’s earlier disclosures had identified the Philippines approval process as still pending while it expanded Nasodine across Southeast Asia and the United States.
Launch could begin from the first quarter
Firebrick Executive Chairman Dr Peter Molloy said the company would work with SV More over the next few months to prepare for launch, which could occur as early as the first quarter of calendar 2027. That timing is presented as a possibility rather than a committed launch date.
The initial Certificate of Product Registration is valid until 24 September 2028. SV More must first complete standard post-approval documentary requirements, while continued approval will depend on compliance with the certificate’s conditions and subsequent revalidation.
Approval adds to Nasodine’s international rollout
The Philippines becomes the fifth country where Nasodine Nasal Spray can be sold, alongside the United States, Singapore, Fiji and Indonesia, according to Firebrick’s company information. The company has also launched Nasodine Throat Spray in Singapore and Fiji and says further Nasodine-branded products are planned during FY27.
The immediate test is no longer whether Firebrick can obtain Philippine approval, but how quickly the regulatory clearance converts into distribution, retail availability and disclosed sales. None of those commercial outcomes is guaranteed by the approval itself.
Bottom Line?
The approval removes a key regulatory barrier, but the next value-defining milestones are post-approval compliance, launch timing and evidence of Philippine demand.
Questions in the middle?
- Will SV More complete the remaining documentary requirements in time for a Q1 2027 launch?
- What distribution, pricing and marketing arrangements will support Nasodine in the Philippines?
- How much revenue, if any, will the new market contribute once commercial sales begin?
