A$2.866 Million Cash and 1.08 Quarters of Funding at Neometals
Neometals reported high-grade gold and copper intersections at Barrambie during the September quarter, but its cash position remains tight after drawing a A$2 million secured loan. The company estimated only 1.08 quarters of funding and is still pursuing A$5 million in unpaid placement proceeds.
- Ironclad drilling returned up to 12m at 5.99g/t gold
- Rinaldi drilling confirmed primary copper-sulphide mineralisation
- A$2 million secured standby loan fully drawn
- A$5 million Omaha placement payment remains outstanding
- Estimated funding fell to 1.08 quarters

Barrambie Delivers High-Grade Gold and Copper Results
Neometals Ltd (ASX:NMT) has produced some of its strongest exploration results at Barrambie while confronting a much less comfortable funding position. At Ironclad, three of the deepest completed reverse-circulation holes returned wide, high-grade gold intersections, including 12 metres at 5.99 grams per tonne from 116 metres and 11 metres at 5.50g/t from 94 metres.
The July programme strengthened Neometals’ interpretation of a higher-grade corridor plunging north beneath the existing resource. The company’s current Ironclad mineral resource stands at 285,000 tonnes grading 1.6g/t gold for about 15,000 ounces, while a March scoping study outlined potential production of 10,000 to 11,000 ounces from an open-pit development, subject to approvals and a positive final investment decision. The results are encouraging, but they do not yet change that resource or establish an economic mine.
The quarter also produced a notable copper result at Rinaldi: 6 metres at 1.56% copper and 20.8g/t silver from 101 metres, including 1 metre at 2.96% copper and 40.2g/t silver. Further drilling is still needed to determine the lode’s continuity, scale and economic significance. The separate T2 geophysical target was not fully tested after water ingress forced two holes to stop early.
Diamond Drilling Moves Ironclad Towards a 2027 Decision
Diamond drilling began at Ironclad on 24 September, with two diamond tails and one surface hole designed to test the mineralised corridor about 50 metres and 100 metres beyond the deepest prior RC hole. Core is intended to improve structural interpretation ahead of an updated mineral resource estimate and a potential 2027 final investment decision. The earlier Ironclad gold extensions had outlined the deeper high-grade corridor and a planned diamond follow-up.
Development remains conditional on a native title agreement and state deed, a mining lease, approvals, grade-control drilling funded by BML Ventures, and an acceptable ore tolling agreement with a third-party mill. Those requirements leave a meaningful gap between promising drill results and a producing operation.
Loan Drawdown Highlights Cash Pressure
Neometals drew the full A$2 million available under a secured standby facility with Coal Holdings on 17 September. The loan carries interest at 10% a year, matures in August 2029 and is secured against the company’s shareholding in Avanti Exploration, the Barrambie vehicle. The A$2 million standby loan had previously been reported as a near-term funding measure, but it is now fully drawn.
At quarter end, cash and cash equivalents stood at A$2.866 million, including A$161,000 of restricted deposits. Operating and investing outflows totalled A$2.648 million for the quarter, producing an estimated funding runway of just 1.08 quarters. Neometals said it expects its current level of net cash outflow to continue and is investigating equity, asset-sale and other funding options, while offering no guarantee that a fundraising transaction will be completed.
Unpaid Placement Funds Remain a Separate Funding Risk
The company is also still waiting for A$5 million owed by Omaha Value Holdings under its Tranche 2 placement. Neometals called on a personal guarantee covering A$2.5 million, but reported that neither Omaha nor the guarantor had paid by the announcement date. It has reserved its rights and is considering enforcement and recovery options. The unpaid A$5 million placement was previously identified as a material shortfall and potential source of liquidity.
Elsewhere in the portfolio, planning continued for Utah lithium and potash brine sampling, while the ELi lithium-processing technology remained under optimisation discussions with Rio Tinto Lithium and Industrie De Nora. Financing work also continued for the Pori vanadium project, where demonstration-scale beneficiation test work is targeted for the December quarter.
High Court Decision Removes One Legal Overhang
After quarter end, the High Court of Australia refused Mr Reiche’s application for special leave to appeal, with costs awarded to Neometals. The company said the substantive litigation was therefore resolved in its favour, although a separate appeal concerning a partial costs award remains ongoing. Neometals does not expect the outcome to materially affect its financial position or projects.
Bottom Line?
The next decisive milestones are Ironclad’s diamond assays and resource update, but the nearer-term question is whether Neometals can secure new funding before its stated 1.08-quarter runway expires.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the Ironclad diamond programme expand the resource enough to support a 2027 final investment decision?
- Can Neometals recover the unpaid Omaha placement funds or the A$2.5 million guarantee?
- What form and timing will the company’s next funding transaction take?
