IODM Breaks September Revenue Record as University Rollout Accelerates

Technology By Sophie Babbage 3 min read

IODM has posted its strongest-ever September revenue as new university contributions accelerate across the UK and Europe, while its cash position leaves little room for execution missteps. The company ended the quarter with A$747,000 in cash and an estimated 1.2 quarters of funding.

  • September UK Education revenue of A$375,908, up 79.9% year on year
  • Six UK and European universities in implementation
  • 15 US universities progressing with TransferMate
  • A$611,000 quarterly operating cash outflow
  • A$747,000 cash balance and 1.2 quarters of estimated funding

Record September Revenue Arrives With New University Contribution

IODM Limited (ASX:IOD) has set a new monthly revenue record in the UK education business, but the improvement comes alongside a narrow cash buffer. September revenue reached A$375,908, up 79.9% from the prior corresponding period and 18.6% above the company’s previous monthly record, set in October 2025.

The result was not driven solely by the established customer base. Established university revenue rose to A$216,814, while new universities contributed A$159,094. Across the full quarter, UK revenue was A$827,469, 21% above Q1 FY26, with newly implemented universities accounting for 42% of that total.

University Implementation Pipeline Expands Across Three Regions

Six more universities moved into implementation across the UK and Europe during the quarter, adding to IODM’s existing platform footprint. The company also began its first US implementation cohort, with 15 universities progressing through TransferMate under a one-to-many deployment model. That marks the operational start of the North American rollout described in the first 15-university US rollout, which was previously reported as targeting a broader portfolio of 283 universities.

IODM reported 43 university accounts at the end of September, compared with 15 a year earlier, including 15 established universities, seven onboarded universities and 21 in implementation. TransferMate has previously indicated that the 15 US universities will be live by 31 December 2026, although that timing is not presented in the filing as binding company guidance.

Cash Flow Remains the Constraint on Expansion

Quarterly customer cash receipts were A$765,000, below A$850,000 in Q1 FY26 and A$803,000 in the preceding quarter. IODM said the comparison was affected by the timing of September revenue settlements, which were due to be received in October. Net operating cash outflow was A$611,000, leaving A$747,000 in cash at quarter end.

The funding position remains the less comfortable part of the update. IODM reported no unused finance facilities and estimated only 1.2 quarters of funding based on its quarterly operating cash outflow. Its facilities include a drawn A$400,000 unsecured loan carrying 15% annual interest and a drawn A$1 million secured facility at 9.6%, which can be repaid in equity at the lender’s choice. The liquidity issue had already featured in the company’s going-concern warning, which also noted continued reliance on external capital.

October Receipts and US Delivery Become Immediate Tests

IODM expects the September record-month invoices to generate A$375,907 after quarter end and anticipates receiving an A$500,000 research and development tax incentive in Q2 FY27. Management also points to October as the company’s traditionally largest revenue month, with associated revenue expected to appear in November cash receipts.

That seasonal lift, the completion of the six UK and European implementations and delivery of the 15-university US cohort will determine how quickly the revenue narrative converts into cash. CEO Mark Reilly said the company’s focus was on “converting this expanding platform footprint into sustained operating momentum”; the next two reporting points should show whether that conversion is occurring before liquidity again becomes the dominant issue.

Bottom Line?

IODM has demonstrated stronger platform traction, but the growth case now depends on implementations becoming cash receipts before the 1.2-quarter funding estimate tightens further.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will October and November receipts materially improve the company’s cash runway?
  • Can the six UK and European universities move from implementation into recurring revenue on schedule?
  • Will IODM require additional capital before the 15 US universities become revenue-generating?
