Excite secures two-year regulator engagement
Excite Technology Services Limited (ASX:EXT) has won a $2.9 million technology contract from an unnamed Australian Federal Government regulator, giving the cybersecurity provider another defined government revenue opportunity through September 2028.
The 24-month agreement will be delivered by wholly owned subsidiary CBIT, which will supply digital forensics and investigative analytics software, together with associated services. Excite said the customer is one of Australia’s prominent regulators but has not disclosed its identity, citing the sensitive nature of the work.
Digital evidence work sits at the centre of the contract
The scope places specialist investigative technology at the heart of the engagement rather than general IT services. Excite said the offering will support the regulator’s investigative work, while chief executive and managing director Bryan Saba described the award as a vote of confidence in the company’s people and digital forensics capability.
“When digital evidence is at stake, agencies need a partner they can rely on completely,” Saba said. “This award shows the trust that Australian Government customers place in Excite’s digital forensics capability.”
Contract value remains subject to government discretion
The headline value is not guaranteed in the same way as a fixed, unconditional order. The contract uses standard Australian Federal Government terms that allow the regulator to terminate the arrangement or vary the scope and quantum of goods and services at its discretion. That leaves the eventual revenue contribution dependent on the work ultimately requested and delivered.
Even with that qualification, the award strengthens Excite’s stated position as a supplier of specialist technology to government and extends the period over which it can demonstrate delivery in digital investigations. The next useful markers will be implementation progress, revenue recognised against the contract and whether the regulator changes the agreed scope before September 2028.
Bottom Line?
The contract adds valuable government work, but its ultimate contribution will depend on how much of the discretionary scope is actually used.
Questions in the middle?
- How quickly will Excite begin recognising revenue from the 24-month engagement?
- Will the regulator retain the full stated scope and contract value?
- How materially will this award change Excite’s government revenue mix and customer concentration?
