Recurring Revenue Accelerates Into FY27
icetana Limited (ASX:ICE) has opened FY27 with ARR of $3.1 million, up 19% from the June quarter and 35% from a year earlier. Quarterly revenue rose 29% sequentially to $838,000 and was 40% higher year-on-year, giving the security software company a strong early read on demand for its surveillance AI products.
The quarter included $100,000 of non-recurring revenue from partner-funded platform security and compliance work, so not all of the revenue increase represents recurring sales. Even so, the recurring revenue measures moved in the same direction: net ARR retention rose four percentage points to 104%, meaning existing customer revenue expanded after accounting for losses and contractions.
Antara Core Moves From Sale To Deployment
Antara Core supplied the clearest commercial milestone. Millennium Services Group placed its third order for the on-premise AI platform in as many months, with the contract valued at $675,000 over five years. The September Antara Core sale had previously been reported as a five-year Millennium contract and was the third sale in the run of monthly deals.
The first commercial site went live during the quarter, with training completed and hypercare under way. A second site in the same shopping-centre portfolio began licensing on 1 September under the combined $617,000 order announced in June, following the June Antara Core wins that established the platform's first commercial sales. The company said Macnica and SoftBank Robotics also continued converting proofs of concept and renewing customers in Japan, although those agreements were not individually material.
Growth Comes With A Higher Cash Draw
Cash receipts from customers were $910,000, down from $1.4 million in the June quarter, which included the annual renewal of the company’s largest customer, but up 133% from a year earlier. Gross margin held at 92%.
Net operating cash outflow, however, increased to $712,000 from $134,000 in the previous quarter. Total operating cash expenditure was about $1.6 million, led by $1.2 million in staff costs, while the company ended September with $3.9 million in cash. Over the 12 months to 30 September, average monthly net operating cash outflow was $226,000, although the filing does not provide updated cash runway guidance.
Partner Sales And Security Certification Remain Key Tests
icetana AI is targeting repeatable sales through its US and Asia-Pacific partner channels. During the quarter it began a SOC 2 attestation program and is targeting a Type 1 report by 31 December 2026, a certification commonly required by US enterprise buyers. It also added support for NVIDIA’s latest AI processors and released version 7.1 of its Safety & Security platform, with improvements to video review, access controls and operator tools.
The next question is whether Antara Core’s early sequence of orders can become a dependable channel-led sales engine rather than a short burst of deployments. The answer will need to emerge alongside the company’s cash discipline, as stronger growth currently sits beside a materially higher quarterly operating outflow.
Bottom Line?
The operating metrics are moving favourably, but the next quarterly report will show whether Antara Core sales repeat while cash outflows remain controlled.
Questions in the middle?
- Can partner-led Antara Core sales continue beyond the first three commercial orders?
- Will the first deployments translate into further expansions and renewals across customer portfolios?
- How will operating cash outflow develop as the company invests in sales channels, product development and SOC 2 certification?
