Golden Dragon strengthens Cue drilling campaign with A$4.1m cash balance
Golden Dragon Mining has finished an approximately 2,800-metre RC drilling program at its Cue Gold Project after reporting high-grade results and a more than 3-kilometre gold corridor. The company also ended the September quarter with A$4.11 million in cash following a strategic A$2.2 million investment from Chengtun Gold.

A$2.2 Million Investment Reshapes Golden Dragon’s Funding Position
Golden Dragon Mining Ltd (ASX:GDR) has put more financial room behind its Cue Gold exploration campaign, ending the September quarter with A$4.11 million in cash after completing a A$2.2 million strategic investment from Chengtun Gold (Hong Kong) Limited. The placement issued 11 million shares at A$0.20 each, giving Chengtun a 19.89% stake at a 17.65% premium to Golden Dragon’s last closing price.
The investment also gives Chengtun the right to nominate a director while it maintains at least a 15% holding. That right has now been exercised through the appointment of Ching Iu as a non-executive director. The company says the funds will support drilling at Coodardy and Behring Bore, an aircore program and the wider regional exploration pipeline, including Jeffrey Well. The transaction builds on the A$2.2 million strategic placement reported earlier in the year, which was also priced at A$0.20 a share and included a board nomination right.
High-Grade Zones Remain Open at Coodardy and Behring Bore
The operational story is now moving from shallow discovery toward continuity and scale. At Coodardy, 11 new RC holes over 960 metres extended the mineralised system to approximately 500 metres of strike. Recent drilling returned 8 metres at 2.55 grams per tonne gold from 36 metres, including 4 metres at 3.58 g/t, while re-assaying earlier holes at one-metre intervals produced 11 metres at 6.42 g/t, including a one-metre interval at 59.20 g/t.
Behring Bore delivered a new high-grade quartz lode, with hole 26BB045 returning 4 metres at 6.98 g/t gold from 36 metres inside a broader 8-metre zone at 3.64 g/t. Another hole intersected the altered, pyritic dolerite host at depth, returning 8 metres at 1.40 g/t from 100 metres. Earlier re-assaying also produced 7 metres at 4.35 g/t, including one metre at 25.30 g/t. These results extend the high-grade Behring Bore intercept and support further testing, but they remain exploration intersections rather than a mineral resource or economic assessment.
Three-Kilometre Geochemical Corridor Connects Four Prospects
Golden Dragon’s regional work may prove as important as the individual drill hits if the geological interpretation holds up. An 827-sample auger program identified two coherent gold-in-soil anomalies extending more than 3 kilometres along a northeast trend and linking Curtis Find, Behring Bore, Coodardy and Piston. The peak gold value was 720 parts per billion, with arsenic and antimony producing a matching pathfinder signature.
The company interprets the corridor as a possible structural trend associated with fault or shear-zone hosted orogenic gold mineralisation. That interpretation remains subject to further drilling and validation. Golden Dragon has completed its next approximately 2,800-metre RC program using a larger rig, targeting depth extensions and continuity at both Coodardy and Behring Bore. Assays were expected in late October, creating the clearest near-term test of whether the high-grade zones persist beyond the currently drilled areas.
Cash Runway Supports Exploration, But Results Must Do the Heavy Lifting
Cash used in operating and investing activities totalled A$844,000 during the quarter, including A$598,000 on exploration and evaluation. On the company’s reported expenditure measure of A$820,000 for the quarter, the A$4.11 million cash balance represented an estimated 5.01 quarters of funding. Golden Dragon also reported A$55,000 in payments to related parties for directors’ wages and fees and A$62,000 for exploration services provided by a director.
That runway gives the explorer scope to keep drilling while it prepares heritage work and access for the newly identified northeast corridor. It does not remove the central exploration risk: the current results show promising grades and extensions, but the company has yet to disclose a mineral resource, and the pending assays will need to demonstrate continuity and scale before the corridor’s larger potential can be assessed with greater confidence.
Bottom Line?
Golden Dragon has funded the next phase of Cue exploration, leaving the pending RC assays to determine whether high-grade intersections become a coherent mineralised system.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the approximately 2,800 metres of completed RC drilling confirm continuity of the Coodardy and Behring Bore zones at depth?
- Can the more than 3-kilometre gold-in-soil corridor translate into additional drill-defined mineralisation between the known prospects?
- How quickly will Golden Dragon convert its strengthened cash position into a maiden resource or another measurable project milestone?
