OZZ Resources builds a larger Bedaburra platform after raising $4.8 million
OZZ Resources has completed its return to the ASX with a new critical minerals focus, but its $3.884 million cash balance is yet to translate into Bedaburra exploration spending. The company is now seeking to expand the Western Australian project while it rebuilds its exploration pipeline.
- Bedaburra acquisition completed and ASX quotation restored
- $4.8 million raised through 120.22 million shares
- New 69-block exploration licence application surrounds the project

Cash raised, but Bedaburra spending has not started
OZZ Resources Limited (ASX:OZZ) has returned to the ASX with $3.884 million in cash and an enlarged critical minerals portfolio, but the first quarter of the restart was dominated by corporate mechanics rather than fieldwork. The company recorded no expenditure against its $2.75 million Bedaburra exploration allocation through 30 September, while operating cash outflows reached $936,000.
That gap is not necessarily a surprise for a recently reinstated explorer. OZZ completed its acquisition of Sulphide Minerals, raised $4.8 million through 120.22 million shares and regained quotation on 11 August. The company’s earlier Bedaburra acquisition and relisting had already reset its strategy around nickel, copper, cobalt and other critical minerals.
Bedaburra land position expands across Western Australia
Bedaburra now comprises two granted exploration licences covering 43.54 square kilometres in the Murchison region. OZZ says the project is prospective for laterite-hosted nickel-cobalt mineralisation and primary magmatic nickel-copper sulphides, with additional indicative prospectivity for cobalt, chromium, platinum group elements and iron.
On 21 September, the company lodged an application for E52/4637 over 69 blocks adjoining and surrounding the existing tenure. The application covers 21,500 hectares in the tenement schedule and is intended to capture interpreted extensions of the prospective mafic-ultramafic geological system and regional geophysical trends. It remains pending, so the enlarged land position is not yet equivalent to granted exploration ground.
The geological case currently rests on historical work and early-stage targeting rather than a reported resource or new drilling result. About 111 shallow holes were completed by previous explorers, with three of eight deeper holes targeting induced-polarisation anomalies ending in sulphide mineralisation. Recent ultrafine soil sampling has also outlined coherent nickel, copper and cobalt anomalies coincident with historical geophysical features. OZZ plans to review the inherited data, rank targets and undertake reconnaissance before deciding whether ground geophysics or drilling is warranted.
Capital structure and cash position after reinstatement
The public offer generated $4.809 million in gross proceeds, offset by $289,000 in equity issue costs. OZZ finished the quarter with $3.884 million in cash after $633,000 of corporate and administrative payments and $175,000 of exploration expenditure. The latter included $150,000 paid as cash consideration to the Sulphide Minerals vendors.
On the quarter’s net operating outflow, the Appendix 5B indicates approximately 4.15 quarters of available funding. That is a mechanical estimate based on current spending and may change materially once field programs begin. The use-of-funds table shows $1.236 million of actual expenditure against $5.108 million of available funds, with the largest unspent allocation being the Bedaburra exploration budget.
Gold transaction and tenement reductions remain in the background
OZZ is also progressing the Maguires Gold Project and Old Prospect transaction with Scorpion Minerals Limited (ASX:SCN). During the quarter, a mining licence application was submitted over the Old Prospect North and South deposits, covering the Maguires Reward prospecting licence and an adjacent application intended to support infrastructure and expansion.
At the same time, OZZ surrendered four tenements linked to uncertainty around Warden’s Court proceedings and potential legal costs. The company said expenditure would be better directed to Bedaburra, and the related exemption applications are due to be dismissed once the surrenders are registered. The filing states that the relevant surrenders had been registered by the report date.
Next catalyst is target generation, not drilling yet
The immediate test for the new strategy is execution: securing E52/4637, completing the historical data review and converting soil and geophysical anomalies into field-checked targets. OZZ has not committed in this report to a drilling date, and the next phase of work remains conditional on the outcome of desktop analysis, reconnaissance and any required approvals.
Bottom Line?
OZZ has bought itself exploration time, but the investment case now depends on turning Bedaburra’s historical signals into targets while preserving the cash raised for meaningful field programs.
Questions in the middle?
- When will E52/4637 be granted, and how much will the expanded tenure change the initial exploration program?
- Will reconnaissance and geophysical work confirm targets strong enough to justify drilling at Bedaburra?
- How quickly will exploration spending rise from the current low base, and how will that affect the stated 4.15-quarter funding estimate?
