Ewoyaa Sale Delivers US$71 Million
Elevra Lithium Limited (ASX:ELV; NASDAQ:ELVR) has completed the sale of all its rights and interests in Ghana’s Ewoyaa Lithium Project to Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt for US$71 million in cash, before fees and taxes. Completion followed the required Ghanaian Government approvals.
The transaction also transfers Elevra’s spodumene concentrate offtake rights and ends its funding commitment to develop Ewoyaa. That combination gives the sale greater significance than a simple asset disposal: Elevra has converted its interest into cash while removing future project funding obligations.
North American Expansion Moves to the Fore
Elevra said the proceeds provide additional financial flexibility as it advances the North American Lithium brownfield expansion, development work at Moblan and other growth projects. The company’s North American focus has already been sharpened by the Ewoyaa divestment plans outlined in its FY26 reporting.
The immediate investor question is not whether the cash has arrived, but how much remains after fees and taxes and how it is deployed. The announcement does not disclose net proceeds or place a value on the development funding obligations that have now been removed. Elevra’s NAL expansion program was targeting a substantial increase in spodumene capacity, making capital allocation across that project and Moblan an important next step.
Huayou’s Atlantic Lithium Deal Remains Separate
Huayou continues to progress its proposed acquisition of Atlantic Lithium, which holds the remaining private-sector interest in Ewoyaa. Elevra’s sale is separate from that proposed transaction and does not depend on its completion, so the two deals should not be treated as a single closing event.
For Elevra, the completed sale removes one Ghanaian development obligation and gives management more room to concentrate on assets in Québec and the United States. The next useful disclosure will be the financial treatment of the transaction and evidence of where the proceeds are directed.
Bottom Line?
The cash is now secured, but the investment case will turn on how efficiently Elevra converts that flexibility into progress at North American Lithium and Moblan.
Questions in the middle?
- What will Elevra report as the net proceeds after fees and taxes?
- How will the cash be allocated between the North American Lithium expansion, Moblan and other growth projects?
- Will Huayou complete its separate proposed acquisition of Atlantic Lithium and consolidate the remaining Ewoyaa interest?
