GreenTech finds more high-grade copper below Ayshia

Mining By Maxwell Dee 5 min read

GreenTech Metals has extended the tested Ayshia mineralised trend at Whundo by about 65 metres beyond its existing resource envelope, with drilling returning 4.76 metres at 7.13% copper plus zinc, gold and silver. The ASX-listed explorer enters the December quarter with more Whundo assays, a resource update and Munni Munni target testing still ahead.

  • 4.76m at 7.13% copper, 1.20% zinc, 0.88g/t gold and 29.6g/t silver at Ayshia
  • Mineralised trend extended approximately 65m beyond the existing Whundo resource envelope
  • Eleven further Whundo diamond holes await assays in the December quarter
  • Munni Munni FLEM survey completed and basal-contact drilling being prepared
  • A$4.527 million cash at quarter end, with 2.36 quarters of estimated funding availability

Ayshia drilling pushes high-grade copper deeper

GreenTech Metals Limited (ASX:GRE) has produced its strongest multi-metre copper intersection at the Ayshia deposit to date, extending the tested mineralised trend approximately 65 metres down plunge beyond the existing Whundo Mineral Resource Estimate envelope. Drill hole 26GTDD016 returned 4.76 metres at 7.13% copper, 1.20% zinc, 0.88 grams per tonne gold and 29.6 grams per tonne silver from 367 metres, including 3.44 metres at 9.43% copper.

The result is the latest step in the Ayshia extension drilling thread, which previously reported the same high-grade intersection and noted that its true width remained unconfirmed. GreenTech said the new interval sits within 6.85 metres of visually logged chalcopyrite-rich massive to semi-massive sulphides.

Eleven Whundo holes await December assays

The Ayshia intersection sits beyond several previously reported holes, including 23.7 metres at 3.19% copper and 13.97 metres at 3.4% copper. GreenTech said the system remains open at depth and plans to integrate the new assay with geological, structural and historical drilling data before planning further down-plunge work.

That interpretation will be tested against 11 additional diamond holes drilled during the September quarter, with laboratory results expected in the December quarter. GreenTech is also collecting wider-diameter core for metallurgical composites, supporting an updated Whundo resource intended to include gold and silver alongside copper and zinc. The existing Whundo JORC 2012 resource stands at 6.2 million tonnes grading 1.12% copper and 1.04% zinc.

Munni Munni targets move from theory to fieldwork

At the nearby Munni Munni PGE-copper-nickel project, GreenTech is moving from geological reinterpretation towards target testing. An independent review by geochemist Dr Scott Halley identified high-priority targets around the base of the intrusion, while a heritage survey conducted with the Ngarluma Traditional Owners cleared new drill locations and access routes after quarter end.

The company has now completed a ground-based Fixed Loop Electromagnetic survey over basal-contact targets, although processing and interpretation remain underway. GreenTech plans to use the results to guide drilling focused on shallow copper extensions at the Ferguson Reef and deeper sulphide targets along the intrusion’s basal contact. Munni Munni resource re-estimation and metallurgical testwork are also continuing, with an updated JORC 2012 estimate targeted for the December quarter.

Cash position leaves exploration funded but time-sensitive

GreenTech held A$4.527 million in cash at 30 September after spending about A$1.332 million on exploration during the quarter. The Appendix 5B reports A$1.915 million of total relevant quarterly outgoings and estimates 2.36 quarters of funding availability, with no unused finance facilities reported.

That gives the company room to pursue the immediate assay, geophysical and resource milestones, but not an unlimited runway. The next test is whether the December-quarter results convert a striking Ayshia intercept and a promising Munni Munni framework into enough defined mineralisation to justify the next round of exploration spending.

Bottom Line?

The December quarter carries an unusually dense set of catalysts: Whundo assays, an updated resource, Munni Munni geophysical interpretation and a potential drilling start. The key question is whether those results arrive before GreenTech’s reported 2.36-quarter funding window becomes the dominant story.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the remaining 11 Whundo holes confirm that high-grade Ayshia mineralisation continues beyond the current resource envelope?
  • How will the December-quarter Whundo resource update treat gold and silver credits and the new down-plunge drilling?
  • Can the Munni Munni FLEM survey identify drill targets capable of accelerating resource definition before additional funding is required?
