Avenira nears full funding for Wonarah phosphate project

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Avenira’s approximately $48.9 million rights issue has received more than $44 million in applications and funds ahead of its 30 October close. The raise, combined with $85 million in debt facilities, is intended to fund the Wonarah Project’s direct shipping ore phase.

  • More than $44 million received, representing over 90% of the rights issue
  • Less than $2 million remains available after excluding Hebang’s entitlement
  • Hebang is taking up its full entitlement to retain a 60% holding
  • Rights issue proceeds and $85 million in debt facilities are expected to fund Wonarah’s DSO phase
  • Pre-strip and first ore on ship remain targeted for the first half of 2027

Rights Issue Passes 90% Subscription Mark

Avenira Limited (ASX:AEV) has moved within sight of completing its approximately $48.9 million renounceable rights issue, with more than $44 million in applications and funds received before the offer closes on Friday, 30 October 2026.

The figure represents over 90% of the total offer, although it is not yet the final subscription result. Excluding Hebang Biotechnology (Hong Kong) Investment Limited’s entitlement, Avenira says less than $2 million remains available from the shortfall after Hebang’s 60% entitlement to the remaining $4.9 million is taken into account.

Wonarah Funding Moves Closer to Completion

The capital raising is one half of Avenira’s funding plan for the direct shipping ore phase of its Wonarah Project. The company says the rights issue, together with a $50 million debt facility and a $35 million working capital revolving facility, is expected to fully fund the phase under its owner-operator development model.

The update gives the funding effort a more concrete operational test. Avenira has retained its target for pre-strip work and first ore on ship in the first half of 2027, a milestone also highlighted in its H1 2027 shipment target after the company’s annual report recorded funding as critical to its outlook.

Final Shortfall Still Has to Be Allocated

Hebang, Avenira’s largest shareholder and a major Chinese phosphate producer, is fully participating to maintain its 60% shareholding. That support provides a defined base for the raise, while the remaining applications will determine the final proceeds and number of shares issued.

Deputy chairman Brett Clark said the company had been “overwhelmed by interest from existing and new investors” and linked the response to the planned move towards operations, including pre-strip and first ore on ship. The closing announcement will show whether the remaining shortfall is absorbed and whether the funding package arrives at the level Avenira says is required for Wonarah’s next phase.

Bottom Line?

The raise is substantially subscribed, but the decisive data point is still the final proceeds and shortfall allocation after 30 October.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the rights issue close fully subscribed, or will Avenira need to allocate the remaining shortfall?
  • Will the debt facilities be available on the terms and timing required for Wonarah’s DSO phase?
  • Can pre-strip and first ore on ship remain on track for the first half of 2027?
