Li-FT Finds Broad Lithium Zone in First Adina-Galinée Assays

Mining By Maxwell Dee 5 min read

Li-FT Power has returned a 56-metre intersection grading 1.43% Li₂O from the first assays of its 2026 drilling campaign in Quebec. The results strengthen the company’s geological interpretation ahead of a planned resource estimate and preliminary economic assessment in early 2027, although most of the program remains to be reported.

  • 56 metres at 1.43% Li₂O in the Galinée Zone
  • 28 metres at 1.64% Li₂O and 14 metres at 1.68% Li₂O
  • Results cover the first five of 45 holes cited in the release
  • Combined Mineral Resource Estimate and PEA targeted for early 2027
  • Additional 27,600 metres of drilling planned

Wide Galinée Intercept Leads First Assay Batch

Li-FT Power Ltd. (ASX:LFT) has opened the assay book on its 2026 summer drilling program with a 56-metre intersection grading 1.43% Li₂O at the Adina-Galinée Lithium Project in Quebec. The result, from hole ALP0002, is the standout among assays from the first five holes and sits within the Galinée Zone, the least-defined of the project’s three mineralised structures.

Other notable intercepts include 28 metres at 1.64% Li₂O in ALP0003, 9 metres at 1.72% Li₂O in ALP0001 and 14 metres at 1.68% Li₂O in the Footwall Zone of ALP0005C. The results are reported as down-hole lengths, rather than direct estimates of true thickness; the company says estimated true widths range from approximately 65% to 100% of reported intervals.

Drilling Tests the Least-Defined Mineralised Zone

The program is aimed at tightening the geological picture across a low-angle spodumene pegmatite corridor that extends approximately 2.5 kilometres and is about 350 metres wide beneath till cover. The Main, Footwall and Galinée zones dip shallowly to the south and are being assessed as parts of a potentially continuous system.

The company’s Quebec portfolio was recently reshaped by the Winsome asset acquisition, which created an integrated Adina-Galinée project and was accompanied by a financing to support exploration and development. Today’s assays are an early test of whether the Galinée Zone can be understood at a level comparable with the better-defined Main and Footwall zones.

Resource Estimate and Economic Study Targeted for 2027

Li-FT said the new intersections will feed into future resource modelling and technical studies. The company is targeting a combined Mineral Resource Estimate and Preliminary Economic Assessment for early 2027, covering the three mineralised zones. That remains a forward target rather than a reported project outcome.

The wider 2026 work program includes drilling, ore-sorting test work, geotechnical investigations and property-scale exploration. A further 27,600 metres of drilling is planned as the project advances toward prefeasibility, alongside additional metallurgical studies.

Assay Controls Support Early Results

The reported assays came from half-core diamond-drill samples processed by independent laboratory MSALABS. The company said core recovery averaged more than 99%; its quality-control results included 15 certified reference materials within three standard deviations of accepted values and eight laboratory duplicates within the stated 20% tolerance.

There is a small reporting wrinkle worth keeping in view. The release describes results from the first five of 45 holes, comprising 39 holes from the 2026 program and six historical holes, while its JORC appendix refers to seven holes and 2,162 metres. The five collar depths listed in the main tables total 1,850 metres. The discrepancy does not alter the reported intercepts, but it should be reconciled as further results arrive.

The next useful evidence will be the remaining assays from the 2026 campaign and the technical work that determines how these individual intersections translate into continuity, tonnage, recoveries and project economics. Strong early grades have improved the geological narrative; the resource model will have to do the harder work.

Bottom Line?

The first assays provide encouraging evidence of continuity at Galinée, but the investment case still depends on the remaining drilling and whether the planned 2027 studies establish a coherent, economically relevant resource.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will assays from the remaining 2026 holes confirm the apparent continuity across the Galinée, Main and Footwall zones?
  • How will metallurgical and ore-sorting work affect expected lithium recoveries and concentrate quality?
  • Can Li-FT reconcile the five-hole presentation with the seven-hole, 2,162-metre reference in the JORC appendix before the next reporting stage?
