A$678,000 Cash Leaves Agrimin With 1.33 Quarters of Funding

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Agrimin is preparing a maiden drilling program at Mount Squires for 2027, but ended September with A$678,000 in cash and an estimated 1.33 quarters of funding. The company says further capital raising initiatives will be pursued when appropriate as Mackay Potash rehabilitation continues.

  • A$678,000 cash balance at 30 September 2026
  • Estimated funding runway of 1.33 quarters with no unused finance facilities
  • Mount Squires target review due for completion in November
  • Maiden drilling programs targeted for 2027, subject to consultation and funding
  • A$160,000 franked dividend received from Niobium Holdings

Mount Squires Moves Towards 2027 Drilling

Agrimin Limited (ASX:AMN) is targeting maiden drilling at its 480-square-kilometre Mount Squires Project in Western Australia in 2027, putting a prospective exploration catalyst against a decidedly tighter funding position. The company spent the September quarter refining targets from historical geological, geochemical and geophysical data while consulting with the Ngaanyatjarra Council and the relevant native title corporation.

Agrimin expects to complete that technical review in November and then provide details of its highest-priority targets and planned exploration programs. The Mount Squires package sits in the West Musgrave region, about 10 kilometres southwest of BHP Group’s Nebo and Babel nickel-copper deposits, and includes historical anomalies such as the Handpump gold target. The company’s earlier Mount Squires acquisition brought the exploration package into Agrimin’s portfolio in May.

Cash Runway Brings Capital Raising Into View

The immediate constraint is cash. Agrimin held A$678,000 at quarter-end, down from A$1.083 million three months earlier, after net operating cash outflows of A$449,000. Including A$60,000 spent on exploration and evaluation, the company reported relevant quarterly outgoings of A$509,000 and estimated funding of 1.33 quarters, with no unused finance facilities available.

Management said cash usage is expected to fluctuate with residual Mackay Potash rehabilitation costs and the timing and expense of Mount Squires exploration. It also said Agrimin will pursue further capital-raising initiatives “when appropriate” and expects to continue operations on that basis. The announcement does not identify the timing, size or structure of any potential raise, leaving the 2027 drilling target dependent not only on exploration work and consultation but also on securing additional funding.

Mackay Rehabilitation Continues as Tenure Contracts

Agrimin continued its phased withdrawal from the Mackay Potash Project, removing plastic liners from pilot evaporation ponds, dismantling a weather station and levelling and capping exploration bores. It also surrendered several tenements before their anniversary dates, avoiding associated rents for the 2026/2027 period. The process extends the company’s Mackay Potash withdrawal, which had been described as largely complete while rehabilitation obligations remained.

Corporate cash support came partly from Agrimin’s investment portfolio. Niobium Holdings, in which Agrimin owns 40% and which holds approximately 11% of WA1 Resources (ASX:WA1), paid Agrimin a A$160,000 franked dividend during the quarter. Agrimin also retains an approximately 25% stake in Tali Resources (ASX:TR2), although those shares remain restricted and subject to escrow.

Bottom Line?

The November target review is the next near-term catalyst, but turning it into 2027 drilling will require consultation, rehabilitation spending control and likely fresh capital.

Questions in the middle?

  • When will Agrimin disclose the size, timing and structure of any capital raising?
  • Will the November review identify targets sufficiently compelling to justify 2027 drilling expenditure?
  • How much of the remaining cash will be absorbed by Mackay Potash rehabilitation before exploration accelerates?
