Ballymore’s Torpy’s grades rise as Dittmer heads towards resource drilling

Mining By Maxwell Dee 6 min read

Ballymore Resources has reported further high-grade silver-lead-zinc-indium mineralisation at Torpy’s while advancing underground work and exploration at Dittmer. The stronger exploration picture comes with a sharper funding question: the company held $2.67 million in cash at quarter end, equivalent to an estimated 1.2 quarters of funding at the reported spending rate.

  • 2m at 580.4g/t silver, 25.88% lead and 10.08% zinc at Torpy’s
  • Dittmer Stage 6 underground drilling expected to begin in Q1 2027
  • $1.73 million spent on exploration and evaluation during the quarter
  • $2.67 million cash balance and 1.2 quarters of estimated funding
  • $383,000 Queensland Government reimbursement expected in December quarter

Torpy’s delivers another set of high-grade intersections

Ballymore Resources Ltd (ASX:BMR) has strengthened the geological case for its Torpy’s polymetallic discovery, with assays from the latest drilling confirming multiple high-grade silver-lead-zinc-indium shoots and mineralisation as close as 30 metres from surface. The standout result was 2 metres at 580.4g/t silver, 25.88% lead, 10.08% zinc and 8.7g/t indium from 46 metres in hole BTPRC013.

The broader results were substantial rather than confined to a single narrow hit. They included 29 metres at 71.3g/t silver, 3.64% lead, 2.19% zinc and 7.1g/t indium in BTPRC011, while BTPRC017 returned 10 metres at 90.3g/t silver, 8.72% lead and 9.08% zinc. The latest batch builds on the earlier Torpy’s 580g/t result, which had extended the emerging high-grade system up-dip.

Ballymore said individual one-metre samples reached 898.0g/t silver, 39.59% lead and 10.35% zinc. Those figures describe exploration results, not a Mineral Resource or an economic assessment. At Little Torpy’s, about 600 metres south of the main discovery, visual estimates of galena and sphalerite were recorded in two holes, but laboratory assays were still outstanding at quarter end and the company cautioned that the observations should not be treated as confirmed grades.

Dittmer development moves towards drilling and bulk sampling

At the Dittmer gold project, underground development continued on the upgraded Level 4 access and southern exploration drive. The work is intended to provide drilling positions near the southern extension of the Duffer Lode, while also supporting trial mining and bulk sampling of historic backfill and remnant pillars within granted mining lease ML 10341.

The approximately 3,000-metre Stage 6 underground drilling programme is now expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027, after completion of the upgraded access. Ballymore’s maiden Dittmer Mineral Resource Estimate remains dependent on that drilling. A bulk sample of historic backfill is scheduled for the December quarter, with further gravity-upgrading spiral testwork planned. The company previously reported backfill grades of up to 81.7g/t gold and remnant pillar sampling of up to 0.4 metres at 207g/t gold, 2.97% copper and 76g/t silver.

The company also completed a seven-line, 9.5 line-kilometre deep magnetotelluric survey targeting a concealed porphyry copper-gold system beneath the mine. The survey follows the deep Dittmer MT launch, which targeted the same concealed system while underground development progressed. Final data is expected to be modelled in the fourth quarter, alongside existing drilling, magnetic, geological and structural information, before targets are ranked for possible deep drilling.

Exploration spend leaves a narrow reported cash runway

Ballymore spent $1.73 million on exploration and evaluation during the quarter, including $820,000 at Dittmer and $810,000 at Ruddygore. Operating cash outflows added $475,000, while the company received $433,000 in net financing cash after equity-issue costs. Cash at 30 September stood at $2.674 million, down from $4.438 million at the start of the quarter.

On the Appendix 5B calculation, that balance represented 1.2 quarters of funding at relevant outgoings of $2.202 million for the quarter. Ballymore said spending should ease as drilling and laboratory costs fall during the December and March quarters, and expects $383,000 in reimbursement under the Queensland Government’s Collaborative Exploration Initiative. The board said it had not begun another capital raising, although it reviews funding requirements monthly and said it expects to be able to continue operations.

Next field programmes depend on assays, access and funding

Follow-up work is planned across the portfolio. Torpy’s, Ruddygore and MAN03 are being prepared for further drilling in the fourth quarter, subject to Native Title cultural heritage clearances and securing a rig before the wet season. Outstanding Little Torpy’s assays, final gravity-survey modelling and the Dittmer MT interpretation will determine how the company prioritises the next round of targets.

For shareholders, the tension is now unusually clear for an exploration company: Torpy’s is producing compelling grades and Dittmer is moving towards a resource-definition campaign, but neither project has yet converted that exploration momentum into a defined resource or operating cash flow. The next assays and drilling milestones may arrive before the funding question is resolved.

Bottom Line?

The exploration pipeline is strengthening, but the 1.2-quarter cash estimate makes the timing of the $383,000 reimbursement and any future funding decision material.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the outstanding Little Torpy’s assays confirm a meaningful second mineralised zone or remain visual indications only?
  • Can Stage 6 drilling at Dittmer support a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate without further delays or cost pressure?
  • Will lower drilling expenditure and the expected $383,000 reimbursement be enough to defer another capital raising?
