Pacific Resources has reported encouraging high-grade results from Snowstorm and Dogwood, including 17.15 g/t gold and 1.10% copper. The exploration progress comes with a sharp funding constraint: cash fell to A$63,000 and the company is seeking further capital after taking a A$100,000 short-term loan from its chairman.
- Snowstorm channel sample returned 17.15 g/t gold over 0.8 metres
- Rex's Bath delivered 9.54 g/t gold over 2.0 metres
- Dogwood assay confirmed 0.9 metres at 1.10% copper
- Blackall coal resource totals 1,125Mt after tenure changes
- Cash fell to A$63,000, equivalent to 0.25 quarters of funding
Snowstorm delivers high-grade gold signals
Pacific Resources Limited (ASX:PXR) has added promising early evidence to its newly acquired Snowstorm Gold Project, with reconnaissance channel sampling returning multiple high-grade gold results across historic workings and previously unsampled structures. The strongest result was 17.15 g/t gold over 0.8 metres from an unnamed shear, while Darby's Adit returned 13.35 g/t over 0.5 metres.
At Rex's Bath, a contiguous 2.0-metre channel averaged 9.54 g/t gold, including 13.70 g/t over 0.5 metres. Eight of the 22 samples returned at least 4 g/t gold and nine returned at least 1 g/t gold. The results build on the Snowstorm acquisition, which earlier secured PXR full ownership of the Victorian project for A$400,000.
The results are encouraging, but their limits matter. These were reconnaissance samples rather than drilling, the channel widths are not mining widths, and no mineral resource has been estimated. Screen fire assays also indicate coarse gold in some samples, a feature that may affect future sampling and metallurgical work but is not a recovery result.
Dogwood assays extend the copper story
Assays from retained core at the Dogwood copper-molybdenum prospect produced a second exploration highlight. Hole DGWDDH005 returned 1.5 metres at 0.79% copper from 79.6 metres, including 0.9 metres at 1.10% copper, described by PXR as the highest verified copper grade reported at Dogwood to date. DGWDDH006 added a 3.3-metre interval at 0.27% copper, including 0.7 metres at 0.67% copper, from a new mineralised position in the corridor.
The results also delivered peak molybdenum of 975 parts per million, alongside tungsten and bismuth, supporting PXR's interpretation of a polymetallic Cu-Mo-W-Bi porphyry-related system. The company previously reported the Dogwood copper zone, where earlier assays identified the project's prior highest copper grade and a laboratory-confirmed porphyry signature. The reported intervals are downhole widths, however, and true widths remain unknown.
Coal resource remains large after tenure changes
PXR's Blackall Coal Project now carries a JORC 2012 resource of 55 million tonnes in the Indicated category and 1,070Mt Inferred, for a rounded total of 1,125Mt. About 740Mt lies at less than 50 metres depth. The company said the change from the February 2024 estimate reflects the relinquishment of sub-blocks during tenement renewal, rather than a substantive geological revision.
Funding runway is the immediate constraint
The operational positives sit against a stark balance-sheet warning. Cash declined from A$521,000 at 30 June to A$63,000 at 30 September after A$203,000 of operating cash outflows and A$247,000 used in investing activities, including the final A$200,000 Snowstorm acquisition payment. On the quarter's relevant outgoings, the Appendix 5B calculates only 0.25 quarters of funding.
After quarter end, Chairman Anthony Chan provided an unsecured A$100,000 short-term loan bearing 5% interest and repayable when a funding event is completed. PXR says it is considering further funding options and expects funding to be secured, but the filing does not specify the structure, timing or potential dilution of any capital raising. Until that question is resolved, planned drilling at Snowstorm and Dogwood, as well as work at the Tasmanian projects, remains subject to funding, approvals and access.
Bottom Line?
Snowstorm and Dogwood have supplied genuine exploration catalysts, but the next decisive announcement may be the funding structure that determines whether those targets can be drilled.
Questions in the middle?
- What form will PXR's further funding take, and how much dilution could it create?
- Will follow-up drilling confirm that Snowstorm's high-grade channel results represent continuous mineralisation at depth?
- Can additional Dogwood core assays define a coherent copper-molybdenum system before new drilling begins?
