AnteoTech reported a quarter of technical milestones and commercial discussions across its battery and life sciences businesses, including new agreements with Xerabrid and Airspeeder. The company ended September with about A$11 million in cash, although an inconsistency in the Appendix 4C reconciliation needs clarification.
- Xerabrid separator collaboration attracts seven sample requests
- Ultranode 95 assembled and tested in 18650 cells
- Life Sciences pipeline tripled after ADLM 2026
- A$1.91 million R&D tax incentive received
- Cash reported at approximately A$11 million with no bank debt
Battery Collaborations Move Towards Customer Testing
AnteoTech Ltd (ASX:ADO) has added several technical and commercial milestones to a battery business that remains largely dependent on turning evaluations into orders. During the September quarter, the company signed a binding Strategic Collaboration and Sales Agreement with Xerabrid Corporation to jointly develop, market and potentially sell ceramic-coated separators incorporating Anteo S.
The collaboration has already produced requests from seven potential customers, including demand for up to 1,000 metres of roll-to-roll separator material. Initial samples are now expected before the end of 2026, while development has begun on a separator with a target total thickness of about 7 micrometres. The agreement builds on the Xerabrid separator deal, which previously covered the combination of Anteo S with Xerabrid’s ceramic-coated separator technology.
Ultranode 95 Reaches Cylindrical Cell Milestone
At the Battery Innovation Centre in Indiana, AnteoTech successfully assembled, formed and tested what it described as a first-of-its-kind 18650 cylindrical cell using Ultranode 95 high-silicon anode technology and a high-nickel cathode. Further optimisation is under way before the company seeks to progress prototype evaluations with battery manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers.
That result supports two Ultranode 95 joint development discussions with US battery manufacturers and technology partners targeting defence and drone applications, but neither agreement has yet been signed. Separately, Airspeeder has agreed to take next-generation battery designs and prototypes incorporating Ultranode 95 for Team Australia’s electric vertical take-off and landing program, with AnteoTech holding exclusivity over battery design and prototype supply to the team.
Life Sciences Pipeline Expands After ADLM Launch
AnteoTech’s Life Sciences division also reported a sharp increase in lead generation after the soft launch of its AnteoBind NXT CLIA kits and prototype activated ELISA plates at ADLM 2026 in the United States. The company said the event tripled its Life Sciences sales pipeline in overall lead terms, generating more than 80 booth visits, 18 sales-qualified follow-up meetings, seven sample requests and five requests for activated ELISA plates.
The figures describe interest and pipeline activity rather than booked revenue. AnteoTech is commissioning independent validation in the US and UK across lateral flow, multiplex and CLIA applications, while the next stage of a collaborative CLIA development program with a large global life sciences company is under way. Recurring revenue continued under the five-year take-or-pay agreement with the Serum Institute of India, including an A$134,138 shipment recognised as FY2027 revenue.
R&D Refund Supports Cash Position
Cash received under the Australian Research and Development Tax Incentive was A$1.905 million for eligible FY2026 expenditure across both business units. The A$1.905 million R&D rebate was reported previously and was received during this quarter, helping offset operating and development spending.
AnteoTech reported A$11.0 million in cash and cash equivalents at 30 September, including A$5.5 million on term deposit, and no bank debt excluding lease and asset-finance liabilities. Customer receipts were A$200,134, while net operating cash outflow was A$27,932 after the tax incentive. That unusually low net outflow is heavily affected by the one-off government receipt, so it is not a clean measure of the underlying cost of operating the business.
Appendix 4C Contains Cash Reconciliation Mismatch
The filing contains an apparent inconsistency that investors may reasonably expect the company to clarify. Its narrative and Appendix 4C item 4.6 report cash and cash equivalents of A$10.997 million, matching A$5.497 million in bank balances plus the A$5.5 million term deposit. However, the separate reconciliation table states A$11.201 million at quarter end despite listing the same A$5.5 million term deposit and a bank balance of A$5.497 million.
The company also issued 5.39 million shares to eligible employees to settle most FY2026 short-term incentive outcomes in shares, preserving cash, while 73.25 million unquoted options expired unexercised. The transition from departing CFO and company secretary Scott Waddell to Luke Oxenham is scheduled to be completed in November.
December Quarter Tests Commercial Conversion
AnteoTech’s stated next step is straightforward but difficult: convert samples, technical validation and partnership discussions into purchase orders. The immediate markers include delivery of Xerabrid separator samples, progress on the two Ultranode 95 joint development agreements, further SiMRAX scale-up work, a potential Serum Institute order and independent AnteoBind NXT validation.
The company has supplied evidence of growing engagement across both divisions, but the filing still describes most battery and diagnostics opportunities as evaluations, prototypes or negotiations. The next quarter should provide a clearer test of whether the expanding pipeline can begin producing commercial revenue before the tax incentive ceases to flatter cash generation.
Bottom Line?
AnteoTech enters the December quarter with technical momentum and about A$11 million of reported cash, but the investment case still turns on commercial conversion and clarification of the Appendix 4C cash discrepancy.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the seven Xerabrid sample requests progress into manufacturing trials or commercial supply?
- Can the Ultranode 95 milestones secure signed joint development agreements and paid prototype work?
- How quickly can the expanded AnteoBind NXT pipeline translate into recurring Life Sciences revenue?
