- $20,803 received from August dore production
- Approximately 3,000 tonnes of ore stockpiled for third-party processing
- $20,000 cash balance and 0.16 quarters of estimated funding

Ropewalk Produces Gold, But Cash Remains Scarce
Australia United Mining Limited (ASX:AYM) continued mining at its Ropewalk project in Queensland during the September quarter, but the operation’s modest cash return sits against a much tighter corporate balance sheet. The company received $20,803 from dore refined in August, containing 708.8 grams of gold and 306.1 grams of silver.
Mining at Ropewalk’s main pit produced about 200 tonnes of in-situ vein ore and historical backfill, while smaller quantities came from the New Hope, Lady Bird and Alex’s Folly pits. AYM said approximately 3,000 tonnes of ore, including spent material from leach vats, was stockpiled for third-party processing. Processing arrangements remain under discussion, leaving the timing of any further proceeds unresolved.
The result extends a funding concern already visible in the company’s earlier going concern warning, which reported low cash and reliance on further support. At 30 September, AYM held approximately $20,000 in cash and bank deposits, while its Appendix 5B calculated just 0.16 quarters of funding based on the quarter’s relevant cash outgoings of $128,000.
Listed Investment and Related-Party Support Form Funding Backstop
AYM said it expects to maintain its current level of net operating cash flow for the time being. To address the shortfall, it identified an ASX-listed share investment valued at approximately $406,000 at quarter-end as a potential source of cash if liquidated.
The company also said W.Y. International (Australia) Pty Ltd, a related company controlled by Managing Director Xiaojing Wang and Ms Yu, has committed to provide ongoing financial support as required. The filing does not disclose the timing, terms or enforceability of that commitment. AYM paid $40,000 to related parties and associates during the quarter, including directors’ salaries, superannuation and $6,000 in rent to a director-associated company.
The cash-flow statement reports $128,000 of proceeds from borrowings, exactly offsetting the $128,000 net cash used in operating activities. However, the financing-facilities section lists no loan, standby or other facility at quarter-end. That presentation may require clarification in subsequent reporting, particularly given the company’s stated cash position and dependence on external support.
Sofala Activity Remains Unreported
There was no corresponding exploration update from the operator of AYM’s Sofala joint venture in New South Wales. AYM holds a 49% interest in EL7423, subject to finalisation, while Northstone Resources Limited (ASX:NRL) is responsible for operating the project and funding exploration under the cooperation arrangements.
AYM retains 100% interests in the Ropewalk mining leases and the Forsayth exploration permit, although Forsayth Resources funded the $166,000 spent at Ropewalk and the surrounding permit during the quarter. The immediate test is whether the stockpiled ore can be processed into cash quickly enough to reduce the company’s reliance on asset sales and related-party assistance.
Bottom Line?
Ropewalk is producing saleable metal, but the next quarter will turn on processing the stockpile, accessing the listed investment or securing further support before the stated cash runway expires.
Questions in the middle?
- When will the approximately 3,000 tonnes of stockpiled ore be processed, and what cash return will AYM receive?
- Will AYM liquidate part or all of its $406,000 listed investment, or rely on the related-party support commitment instead?
- Why does the cash-flow statement show $128,000 of borrowings while the quarterly report lists no financing facility?
