InFocus gives Codexa a first overseas customer and cuts cash burn

InFocus has reduced quarterly operating cash outflow by 40% while advancing Codexa and securing a conditional first customer for its overseas real-money gaming platform. The USD 2.4 million minimum fee commitment is substantial for the company, but it depends on development, licensing and launch milestones that have not yet been completed.

  • Conditional USD 2.4 million minimum fee commitment over 24 months
  • Operating cash outflow reduced to AUD 470,000
  • Quarter-end cash balance of AUD 221,000
  • Codexa ROW commercial availability targeted for early 2027
  • AUD 465,000 placement completed in September

Conditional Codexa Customer Creates Commercial Milestone

InFocus Group Holdings Limited (ASX:IFG) has put a potentially meaningful commercial marker around its Codexa expansion, with a first Codexa ROW customer committing to minimum fees of USD 2.4 million over the first 24 months once the agreement commences. The commitment remains conditional: InFocus must complete and pass acceptance testing for a Prediction Markets Module, make Codexa ROW commercially available or deployable in an agreed jurisdiction, and see the customer’s special purpose vehicle secure the required licences and approvals.

The agreement, signed after quarter-end, would also provide InFocus Gaming Technologies with fees of up to 5% of gross gaming revenue through the platform, plus managed services fees. The company will retain ownership of the intellectual property in Codexa ROW and the new module, with completion of the prediction markets product targeted in approximately nine months. The first Codexa ROW customer had previously been reported with the same conditional minimum commitment, so the immediate question is not whether the headline number exists, but how quickly it can become operational revenue.

Codexa ROW Moves Beyond Sweepstakes Gaming

During the September quarter, InFocus continued upgrading Codexa, its proprietary sweepstakes casino platform, for a planned US commercial release. Work included a mobile-optimised player experience, in-app chat, an AI-powered player concierge and an operator back office with an AI-enabled compliance engine covering anti-fraud, anti-money laundering and know-your-customer processes.

Codexa ROW is being built on the existing technology stack for licensed real-money operators outside the United States, with commercial availability targeted for early 2027. The Codexa ROW expansion had previously been positioned around overseas licensed operators, but the platform still requires development, testing, supplier registration and other regulatory and commercial steps. InFocus says it will act solely as a technology provider and will not operate gaming services or hold player funds or digital assets.

Cost Base Falls as AI-Native Structure Takes Effect

The quarter was the first full reporting period after InFocus streamlined its operations, consolidated its Thai enterprise software activities under Onify and deconsolidated Prodigy9. Cash payments fell 47% to AUD 825,000 from AUD 1.554 million in the June quarter, while net cash used in operating activities declined 40% to AUD 470,000 from AUD 780,000.

Research and development payments more than halved to AUD 455,000, staff payments fell to AUD 207,000 and administration and corporate costs dropped to AUD 127,000. InFocus attributed the changes to a smaller, more senior team, reduced discretionary R&D spending and greater use of AI-assisted engineering workflows. It also disbanded its Advisory Board. Quarter-to-quarter comparisons are affected by the Prodigy9 deconsolidation, payment timing and project mix, so the lower burn rate is useful evidence of cost control rather than proof of a settled long-term operating profile.

Placement Supports Development but Cash Remains Tight

InFocus completed a September placement raising AUD 465,000 before costs through the issue of 93 million shares at AUD 0.005 each, with the proceeds directed mainly towards new products and services, Codexa commercialisation, US launch preparations and patent applications. The AUD 465,000 September placement adds funding to a business that reported customer receipts of AUD 278,000 during the quarter, down from AUD 679,000 in June following the smaller consolidated client base.

Despite the placement, closing cash was AUD 221,000, after the company began the quarter with AUD 228,000, used AUD 470,000 in operating cash and recorded a AUD 2,000 adverse foreign-exchange movement. InFocus reported AUD 1.231 million of unused financing facilities and estimated total available funding of AUD 1.452 million, equivalent to 3.09 quarters at the reported operating cash outflow. That calculation depends on the continued availability of those facilities and on the reduced cash burn being maintained.

Bottom Line?

The commercial promise is now clearer, but the next value-defining event is conversion of the conditional Codexa ROW commitment into a launched platform, customer receipts and recognised revenue.

Questions in the middle?

  • Can InFocus complete and pass the Prediction Markets Module testing within the targeted timeframe?
  • Will the customer’s licensing and operating approvals allow the minimum-fee agreement to commence in early 2027?
  • Can the reduced cash burn persist while InFocus funds Codexa development and manages its debt and financing facilities?
