Paradigm’s insolvency outcome remains unresolved despite court extension

Paradigm Biopharmaceuticals has secured court approval to delay its second creditors meeting until 27 January 2027, giving administrators more time to resolve outstanding matters. The meeting and administrators’ report could still arrive earlier, potentially within weeks.

  • Court-approved three-month extension to 27 January 2027
  • Second creditors meeting must follow within five business days
  • Administrators may convene the meeting earlier
  • VA Report expected in the coming weeks
  • Outcome of restructuring or liquidation process remains unresolved

Court extends Paradigm’s creditors meeting deadline

Paradigm Biopharmaceuticals Limited (ASX:PAR) has bought itself up to three more months in voluntary administration, but the extra time is not a resolution. The Supreme Court of Western Australia has approved an extension of the convening period for the second creditors meeting to 27 January 2027.

The order formalises the relief sought in the three-month court extension, after administrators said they needed additional time to assess sale and recapitalisation proposals. Paradigm entered voluntary administration on 29 September, with Christopher Pattinson and Hayden White appointed as joint and several administrators.

Administrators can still move before January

The extended date is a maximum period rather than a commitment to wait. The administrators retain the option to call the second meeting earlier and said they anticipate being able to issue their Voluntary Administrators’ Report to creditors and convene the meeting in the coming weeks.

Under the court-approved timetable, the second meeting must be held within five business days after the end of the convening period, while the VA Report must be issued on or before 27 January. That report and the creditor vote are the next substantive markers in a process that could lead to a restructuring arrangement or another outcome, but this announcement does not disclose any recommendation, recovery estimate or proposed terms.

The key decision remains unresolved

For shareholders, the extension preserves time for the administration process but does not restore certainty around Paradigm’s future. The announcement gives no indication of whether the outstanding matters will produce an acceptable proposal, nor does it change the fact that creditors, rather than shareholders, will be central to the next formal decision.

The immediate catalyst is therefore the administrators’ report, whether it arrives in the coming weeks as anticipated or closer to the January deadline. Until then, the company’s eventual path remains open, but the filing offers no evidence yet that a viable outcome has been secured.

Bottom Line?

The extension creates negotiating time, not certainty; the administrators’ report and creditor vote will determine whether Paradigm has a path beyond administration.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the administrators issue their report and call the second creditors meeting in the coming weeks?
  • What sale, recapitalisation or other proposals will be presented to creditors?
  • Will creditors support a restructuring outcome, or will the process move towards liquidation?
