ConnectQR reaches more distribution channels
Codeifai Limited (ASX:CDE) is putting its self-service software in front of users wherever they already work, but the commercial test is becoming harder to avoid: can a growing free user base be converted into paying subscribers? ConnectQR accounts reached 8,753 on 28 October, up from 7,313 at 30 July, while the company reported no direct sales force or paid acquisition model.
The Canva QR Codes app went live on 1 September after Canva’s review and security process, allowing users to create static and dynamic codes within designs such as menus, packaging and business cards. The release builds on the Canva app launch, which was positioned as a route to Canva’s reported 265 million monthly active users. Dynamic-code management, editing and analytics are the features that lead users towards ConnectQR’s paid tiers.
AI assistant integrations await approval
Codeifai has also built ConnectQR apps for ChatGPT and Claude, submitted to both platforms’ directories and still awaiting review. If approved, users could request a QR code in plain language, then create, manage and analyse dynamic codes without leaving the conversation. The company says the integration uses the Model Context Protocol, allowing the same build to be extended to other assistants that adopt the standard.
That gives the distribution strategy a potentially wider funnel, but the filing does not report any paid subscribers, recurring revenue, conversion rate or customer acquisition cost. The company says it is working on targeted emails, improved activity tracking and a simpler verification process to move free users beyond their allowance. Until those measures produce disclosed paying-customer numbers, account growth remains an engagement metric rather than a revenue measure.
ProtectCode enters AWS procurement channel
ProtectCode was listed on AWS Marketplace on 27 October, enabling AWS customers to subscribe and pay through their existing AWS accounts. Customers can then connect the software to enterprise resource planning, warehouse and packaging systems through its public application programming interface. Codeifai says AWS charges a 3% listing fee on public SaaS subscriptions, making the channel a variable-cost route to enterprise procurement rather than a fixed sales expense.
The listing arrives as Codeifai points to the GS1 Sunrise 2027 target for 2D barcode scanning at retail point of sale and the EU Digital Product Passport. Those initiatives are cited by the company as demand drivers for serialised, unit-level product codes, but the announcement does not quantify ProtectCode sales or customer commitments through AWS.
Cash position depends on funding as well as products
Codeifai used A$521,000 in operating cash during the September quarter and ended it with A$376,000 in cash. Staff costs were A$249,000 for the quarter, described as steady against the June quarter, while administration and corporate costs were A$260,000. The company also reported a A$770,000 July placement, completed through the issue of 110 million shares at A$0.007 each before transaction costs.
The Appendix 4C calculates 4.8 quarters of funding using cash plus A$2.13 million in unused facilities. That figure includes debt capacity and an at-the-market equity facility, so it should not be read as equivalent to cash in the bank: access depends on the terms of those facilities, share-price conditions and, in the case of the ATM facility, the counterparty’s discretion. Separately, the QuantumAI Secure trademark has been registered in Australia, although the announcement contains an apparent timing inconsistency between the stated registration date and the date of the company’s announcement.
Bottom Line?
The next meaningful test is not another distribution listing but evidence that ConnectQR and ProtectCode channels are producing paid customers before funding capacity becomes the more important growth constraint.
Questions in the middle?
- When will Codeifai disclose paid ConnectQR subscribers, conversion rates or recurring revenue?
- Will ChatGPT and Claude approve the ConnectQR integrations, and how many users will they generate?
- Can ProtectCode produce enterprise sales through AWS before operating cash outflows materially reduce available funding?
