Gold Mountain has reported a busy September quarter across its Brazilian exploration portfolio, led by strong Irajuba rare earth intersections and encouraging metallurgical results at Capivara. The company ended the quarter with $6.397 million in cash after spending $1.828 million on exploration and raising $1.5 million through equity issues.
- Irajuba drilling returned up to 11,423 ppm TREO within an 18.85-metre mineralised interval
- Capivara metallurgical testing achieved up to 65.9% TREY-Ce extraction and 63.6% magnet rare earth extraction
- Ayrton Senna mineralisation extended up to 13 kilometres west of the Irajuba Exploration Target
- Logradouro sampling returned three tungsten results above 10,000 ppm W
- Quarter-end cash of $6.397 million represented an estimated 2.62 quarters of funding
Irajuba drilling delivers the quarter’s strongest numbers
Gold Mountain Limited (ASX:GMN) has put its most substantial exploration results at Irajuba to work in a quarterly report that reads less like a single discovery announcement than a progress report across Brazil. The standout numbers came from five diamond holes at the IR-1 Target, including 18.85 metres at 2,568 ppm TREO and a higher-grade two-metre interval at 11,423 ppm TREO. The September drilling produced a length-weighted average MREO/TREO ratio of 43.50%, with mineralisation identified in both saprolite and saprock.
The Irajuba results add to a mineralised footprint that earlier drilling had extended beyond the original Exploration Target and across more than 1.2 kilometres. Gold Mountain has selected 23 composite samples for preliminary ammonium sulphate leach screening, with samples showing a positive response intended for confirmatory testing at ANSTO. That work matters because the current drilling results establish grades and continuity in the tested horizons, but do not yet establish a mineral resource or demonstrate an economic recovery process.
Down Under project expands on several fronts
At Capivara, seven auger holes and 127 samples confirmed thick, shallow REE mineralisation, including 12 metres at 1,283 ppm TREO and 8 metres at 1,513 ppm TREO in one interval. Several holes stopped within or near mineralisation because of shallow refusal, leaving deeper parts of the weathered saprolite profile largely untested. The project’s earlier results were also linked to the Capivara depth potential, where several auger holes ended near mineralised zones.
Metallurgical work provides a second, more practical data point. ANSTO recorded extraction rates of up to 65.9% for TREY-Ce and 63.6% for magnet rare earth elements under ammonium sulphate desorption at pH 4. The strongest response came from a 10-13 metre interval, while the uppermost tested material returned less than 20% extractable TREY. Further sampling and testing will be needed to determine how representative that response is across Capivara.
Ayrton Senna also widened the Down Under pipeline, with 747 samples from 89 auger holes extending shallow REE mineralisation up to 13 kilometres west of the Irajuba Exploration Target. Twenty-seven holes returned intersections between 1,000 and 4,607 ppm TREO, including 10 metres at 2,145 ppm TREO. Those results were previously reported in the Ayrton Senna extension, and the next step is preliminary leach screening before any decision on more extensive metallurgical work or diamond drilling.
Tungsten and Araxá add optionality, not yet resources
Gold Mountain is pursuing a second commodity thread at Logradouro in the Seridó Tungsten Province. Three rock-chip samples exceeded the 10,000 ppm analytical limit for tungsten, equivalent to more than 1.26% WO₃, while mapping outlined about 2,000 metres of skarn strike around historical workings. The company’s historical tungsten opportunity includes an adjacent historical mine and a proposed diamond drilling program, but permits were still being progressed.
At Araxá, interpretation of 515 stream sediment samples produced clustered niobium, magnet rare earth and phosphate anomalies coincident with magnetic and structural features. Gold Mountain plans drone magnetic surveys, grid soil sampling and further access and environmental approvals before refining drill targets. The work sharpens the exploration map, but the results are geochemical anomalies rather than representative grades from mineralised material at depth.
Exploration is funded for roughly 2.6 quarters
Gold Mountain spent $1.828 million on exploration and evaluation during the quarter, alongside $614,000 in net operating cash outflows. Financing activities supplied $1.493 million net, including $1.5 million from equity issues, leaving $6.397 million in cash at 30 September. The company calculates that balance equates to 2.62 quarters of funding at the quarter’s reported level of relevant outgoings, with no debt facility drawn.
That balance gives the exploration program some near-term room, but the funding picture remains tied to the pace and cost of drilling, metallurgical testing and approvals. The immediate test is whether upcoming leach results and deeper drilling turn a wide collection of promising anomalies into a smaller group of targets capable of supporting resource definition. Until then, GMN’s Brazilian portfolio remains exploration-rich and production-free.
Bottom Line?
The next value test is conversion: deeper drilling and metallurgical results must show whether GMN’s broad Brazilian target pipeline can become a defined, financeable mineral system before the reported cash runway tightens.
Questions in the middle?
- Will Irajuba’s strong diamond drilling translate into consistent leachability and an eventual mineral resource?
- Can deeper Capivara drilling confirm continuity beneath the intervals where auger holes stopped?
- How quickly will GMN need additional funding if drilling, permitting and metallurgical work continue at the current pace?
