Seismic data becomes Tetragon’s farm-out calling card
Tetragon Energy Ltd (ASX:TET) is putting better subsurface data at the centre of its bid to bring a major international oil and gas company into its Philippines acreage. The explorer says fast-track seismic reprocessing across its offshore SC-80 and SC-81 permits remains on schedule, with initial data expected in the first quarter of 2027 and final volumes due in the third quarter.

Tetragon operates both permits and holds a 37.5% interest in each, alongside Sunda Energy, Philodrill and PXP Energy. The reprocessed data is intended to sharpen the definition of existing prospects and identify additional targets before potential farm-out discussions, where a partner would be sought to fund major activities including exploration drilling. There is no farm-out agreement in place at present.

Bottom Line?
The next value test is not another resource headline, but whether improved seismic data can translate into a funded farm-out or a credible drilling decision.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the fast-track seismic interpretation produce targets compelling enough to secure a farm-in partner?
- How much of the gross Halcon potential can ultimately be converted into a drillable, economically relevant opportunity?
- Can SC-82’s Nassiping-2 discovery support an appraisal well without putting undue pressure on the company’s cash balance?
