Gorilla Gold has extended high-grade mineralisation at Sovereign, Lakeview and Vivien, with Mineral Resource updates planned across its Western Australian projects by year-end. The exploration momentum comes with A$9.5 million in cash and less than one quarter of funding at the reported spending rate, leaving additional financing under consideration.
- Sovereign footwall lode interpreted over more than 1km of strike outside the existing 410,000oz resource
- Lakeview returns 7.0m at 12.6g/t gold at depth
- Vivien’s Val discovery expands beyond 400m of strike and downdip, while Vince returns 2.1m at 55.4g/t gold
- A$9.536 million cash balance against A$10.308 million of quarterly relevant outgoings
- Mineral Resource updates planned across all Western Australian projects by year-end
Sovereign Footwall Lode Extends Beyond One Kilometre
Gorilla Gold Mines Ltd (ASX:GG8) has added scale to its most important exploration target at Comet Vale, expanding the high-grade Sovereign footwall lode to more than 1km of interpreted strike. The lode sits outside Sovereign’s existing 410,000oz Mineral Resource at 4.3g/t gold, making any eventual resource conversion dependent on further drilling, geological interpretation and estimation work.
New hole STEX226 returned 2.8m at 31.0g/t gold from 379.1m, about 600m north of the original discovery hole. A review of historical data also identified CVUG008, which returned 0.6m at 86.2g/t gold 400m north of that discovery. The company describes the position as sparsely tested, rather than as a defined resource, but the emerging footprint is now a substantial target for the planned Comet Vale resource update. The result builds on the Sovereign footwall discovery, which was previously reported as extending beyond 1km of strike.
Lakeview Drilling Supports Depth Growth
At Lakeview, newly approved drill positions opened parts of the system that had previously been inaccessible. Hole LVEX173 returned 7.0m at 12.6g/t gold from 392.7m, while a step-out hole 350m to the west intersected a large veining and alteration package with lower-grade gold values that Gorilla interpreted as suggestive of a near miss.
Lakeview remains open at depth, and drilling is scheduled to continue in the December quarter. The latest intercept reprises the Lakeview 12.6g/t intercept, which earlier coverage identified alongside the final permit for underground activities at Sovereign. Gorilla says that permit was received after quarter-end, allowing underground work at Sovereign to resume once sufficient resource mass and advanced study work have been achieved.
Vivien Adds Val Growth and a High-Grade Vince Hit
Vivien delivered two distinct exploration threads during the quarter. At Val, mineralisation is now defined over more than 400m of strike and 400m downdip across multiple parallel lodes, with the zone located 70m from underground development. Results included 4.5m at 4.0g/t gold and 0.9m at 23.0g/t gold in VIVEX025, while additional holes extended the system into a new footwall position.
At the previously untested Vince prospect, 400m north of the Vivien Main underground mine, VIVEX012 returned 2.1m at 55.4g/t gold from 226.9m. Gorilla says Vince sits on a structure parallel to Vivien Main and that an off-hole electromagnetic conductor points to possible further targets, although the single reported intercept does not yet establish the size or continuity of a deposit. The results extend the company’s Val discovery near Vivien and follow the earlier Vince 55g/t gold intercept.
Metallurgy and Resource Updates Move Into Focus
Metallurgical testing across 18 samples from Sovereign, Lakeview and Cheer returned average total gold extraction of 94.6% after 48 hours at a relatively coarse 150-micron grind. Average gravity-recoverable gold was 42.3%, while average extraction reached 90.1% after eight hours. No deleterious elements were recorded, with finer-grind testing next in line.
Gorilla plans to continue diamond drilling at Sovereign, Lakeview, Val and Vince, alongside further work at Mulwarrie and across Comet Vale’s 30km soil-geochemistry target corridor. Mineral Resource updates for all of its Western Australian projects are expected before the end of 2026. Those updates are the clearest near-term test of whether the drilling success has translated into additional reportable ounces, rather than remaining a collection of attractive intercepts.
Exploration Momentum Meets a Short Funding Runway
The quarter’s most immediate constraint is financial. Gorilla ended September with A$9.536 million in cash and cash equivalents after A$9.744 million of capitalised exploration and evaluation spending, plus A$564,000 of operating cash outflows. The Appendix 5B calculates total relevant outgoings at A$10.308 million and estimated funding of 0.92 quarters at that rate.
The company said it expects to secure additional funding as required and is considering a range of alternatives, but disclosed no committed financing transaction. That leaves the pace and structure of the next capital decision as an important variable alongside the drilling results: the exploration portfolio is expanding, yet the cash balance is already below the level implied by one quarter of current expenditure.
Bottom Line?
The year-end resource updates could give Gorilla’s discoveries a more formal scale, but funding will need to keep pace with the drilling program before that catalyst arrives.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the Sovereign footwall drilling convert the more-than-1km exploration footprint into a material addition to the Comet Vale resource?
- Can the Val and Vince results establish sufficient continuity and scale to support future development decisions at Vivien?
- What funding structure will Gorilla pursue, and how might it affect exploration intensity and existing shareholders?
