Rapid Critical Metals reported expanding high-grade silver mineralisation at Webbs and strong processing test results, but ended September with $3.548 million in cash against quarterly relevant outgoings of $3.824 million. The company said it has not yet started a funding process, although it expects to consider its options.
- Webbs mineralisation extended 300 metres south and more than 100 metres north of the resource outline
- WSRC0033 returned 4 metres at 2,089 g/t silver, including 2 metres at 3,950 g/t
- Bulk rougher flotation achieved silver recoveries of up to 98.7% and lead recoveries of up to 99.3%
- Prophet River drilling intersected visible sulphides, with laboratory assays expected in mid-November
- $3.548 million cash balance equated to 0.93 quarters of estimated funding
Webbs exploration advances as funding headroom tightens
Rapid Critical Metals Limited (ASX:RCM) finished the September quarter with its exploration story moving faster than its balance sheet. The company reported a series of high-grade silver intersections and encouraging processing results at its New South Wales projects, yet held $3.548 million in cash against relevant quarterly outgoings of $3.824 million. That produced an estimated funding position of 0.93 quarters under the Appendix 5B calculation.
Rapid said it had not taken steps to raise further cash, but would consider its funding requirements “in the near future”. It also said current operations and business objectives could continue, partly because Canadian drilling had finished and expenditure there was expected to decline in the next quarter. The filing therefore pairs substantial exploration news with a clear financing question rather than a resolved funding plan.
High-grade silver extends beyond the existing Webbs resource
The strongest exploration results came from Webbs, where drilling has pushed mineralisation beyond the current resource outline in both directions. Rapid reported extensions of 300 metres to the south and more than 100 metres to the north, while the latest drilling included WSRC0033 at 4 metres grading 2,089 g/t silver from 24 metres, including 2 metres at 3,950 g/t.
The same hole produced a one-metre interval of 6,060 g/t silver, the highest silver grade recorded in Rapid’s drilling to date. WSRC0019 also returned a broad 53-metre interval at 147 g/t silver, including 18 metres at 390 g/t and 5 metres at 854 g/t. The results build on the latest Webbs drilling results, which reported the earlier 6,060 g/t peak and the addition of a fourth drill rig to the program.
These are exploration intercepts, not a revised resource or a mine plan. Rapid said further drilling is needed to establish the geometry, continuity and scale of the structures before incorporating the results into updated geological and resource models ahead of a planned Mineral Resource Estimate update and scoping study.
Processing tests point to recoverable silver, lead and zinc
Metallurgical work supplied a second strand to the Webbs and Webbs Consol case. Bench-scale bulk rougher flotation tests recorded silver recoveries of up to 98.7%, lead recoveries of 97% to 99.3% and zinc recovery of 93.3% in the Consol Master composite. The tests also produced silver-rich rougher concentrates grading as high as 2,051 g/t.
Those figures are encouraging for flowsheet development, but they are not final saleable concentrate specifications. The work used three composites at two grind sizes, and cleaner flotation testing remains necessary to define marketable products. Earlier Webbs ore sorting tests also showed silver upgrades above 1,000 g/t and substantial mass rejection in stockpiled material, giving Rapid two potential processing levers to investigate rather than an established operating outcome.
Prophet River assays become the next major test
In Canada, Rapid completed seven diamond holes for 1,486 metres at the Prophet River gallium-germanium project after quarter end. Visible sphalerite and galena were logged in all seven holes, although only trace mineralisation was recorded in PR-007. At Pad 2, the logged interval widened from about 3.5 metres in PR-004 to 29 metres in PR-006 as the holes steepened, but the widths are downhole observations and true widths remain unknown.
Laboratory assays, including germanium analysis, are expected in mid-November. The company has cautioned that visual estimates cannot substitute for laboratory grades, making those results the immediate test of whether the sulphide zones carry meaningful gallium, germanium, zinc or lead values. Rapid plans to use the assays, geological modelling and a proposed seismic survey to determine whether follow-up drilling, potentially from mid-2027, is warranted.
Exploration momentum now carries a financing question
Rapid spent $3.318 million on exploration during the quarter, with $2.159 million directed to Australia and $1.159 million to Canada. It reported no mining or development production activity. The company’s capital structure included 1.196 billion ordinary shares, 89.2 million listed options and 104.5 million performance rights, leaving any future funding decision to be considered alongside an already substantial securities base.
The near-term calendar is consequently crowded: pending Prophet River assays, more Webbs drilling, approvals for additional targets including Stormer, and the resource modelling needed to support a scoping study. The sharper question is whether Rapid can convert that news flow into a sufficiently defined project before its stated cash position forces the next financing decision.
Bottom Line?
Webbs is generating the strongest technical news, but with only 0.93 quarters of estimated funding, the next meaningful catalyst may be a capital decision as much as an exploration result.
Questions in the middle?
- Will Prophet River’s laboratory assays confirm economically meaningful gallium and germanium grades in the visually logged sulphide zones?
- How much will the Webbs extensions change the next Mineral Resource Estimate once geometry and continuity are modelled?
- What funding structure will Rapid choose if its accelerated drilling program continues beyond the current cash runway?
