Iltani extends Orient East after 106m mineralised intercept
Iltani Resources has reported its thickest-ever Orient intercept, with 106m at 143 g/t silver equivalent from shallow depth in Orient East. Further results also broaden the southern and eastern targets ahead of a resource update and a planned 145-hole follow-up program.
- 106m at 143 g/t Ag Eq. from 8m in ORR221
- 22m high-grade core grading 384 g/t Ag Eq.
- Five 1m intervals exceeded 1,000 g/t Ag Eq.
- Southern boundary remains open after ORR239
- Q4 2026 resource update and early 2027 scoping study planned

Orient East delivers Iltani’s thickest mineralised interval
Iltani Resources Limited (ASX:ILT) has produced its broadest Orient result to date, with hole ORR221 returning 106m at 143 g/t silver equivalent from just 8m downhole. The interval included a 22m high-grade core at 384 g/t Ag Eq., including 4m at 771 g/t and a 1m section grading 1,043 g/t Ag Eq. from 70m.

The result came from a batch of 15 reverse-circulation holes at Orient East, where the company reported 15 intercepts above 1,000 silver-equivalent gram-metres and five one-metre intervals above 1,000 g/t Ag Eq. Other standout results included 35m at 163 g/t Ag Eq. in ORR225, 32m at 227 g/t in ORR228 and a 38m zone at 92 g/t in ORR239. The release reports all widths as downhole intersections, so true thickness has not been established.
Drilling expands the eastern and southern questions
ORR221 to ORR223 were drilled east of the current resource to test its strike extent. Iltani interprets the mineralisation in that area as an approximately 80m-wide pipe near the eastern caldera boundary, potentially acting as a feeder zone for flatter mineralisation to the west. The company says further drilling, including diamond drilling, is needed to determine the zone’s depth, geometry and structural controls.

The southern edge also refused to provide a neat ending. ORR239 was intended to test the down-dip extent and possibly define a southern boundary, but instead returned 38m at 92 g/t Ag Eq. from 135m, followed by further zones of 16m at 96 g/t and 15m at 62 g/t. That outcome has prompted plans for more drilling across multiple sections to test the south-western extent. The result adds to a run of Orient drilling updates, including the earlier Orient West high-grade results that supported continuity across the broader project.
Resource update becomes the next technical test
The initial 110-hole Orient infill and extension program is now complete, and Iltani plans to use the data in a revised Mineral Resource Estimate expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. Its current resource stands at 62.5 million tonnes at 81.5 g/t Ag Eq., containing an estimated 45.9 million ounces of silver and 725 tonnes of indium. The updated resource is intended to feed into a scoping study planned for early 2027.

Iltani is also planning a further 145-hole campaign, largely targeting the Link Zone and the Orient West north-east extension, with drilling intended to begin in November before the North Queensland wet season. That next phase was previously linked to the company’s $4.6 million placement, which was announced to support the 145-hole program.
The headline grades are encouraging, but silver-equivalent figures depend on the company’s stated metal prices, recoveries and assumptions that silver, lead, zinc and indium can be recovered into saleable concentrates. The resource update will therefore matter more than any single spectacular metre: it must show how these new intersections change tonnes, grade, classification and the shape of a potential mining study.
Bottom Line?
The drilling has strengthened the scale and continuity case at Orient East, but the next resource estimate must convert impressive downhole assays into a clearer project geometry and economic framework.
Questions in the middle?
- How much will the 106m and southern extension results add to Orient’s tonnes and classified resource?
- Will diamond drilling confirm the proposed eastern feeder-zone geometry and its relationship with the flatter mineralisation?
- Can metallurgical work support the silver-equivalent assumptions used across the resource and future scoping study?
