Lotus Resources has dispatched its first uranium ore concentrate shipment from Kayelekera, moving four containers carrying approximately 145,000 pounds of U3O8 towards Walvis Bay. Delivery to Orano CE Malvesi in France is expected by the end of 2026, with further shipments planned before year-end.

  • First four-container shipment leaves Kayelekera
  • Approximately 145,000 pounds of U3O8 dispatched
  • Delivery to Orano CE Malvesi expected by year-end
  • Further shipments expected before the end of 2026
  • Revenue and cash flow remain ahead, not yet reported

Lotus Resources Limited (ASX:LOT) has crossed the operational threshold that matters most for a restarted uranium project: product has finally left site. Four containers carrying approximately 145,000 pounds of uranium ore concentrate, or U3O8, have departed Kayelekera bound for Walvis Bay.

First Kayelekera shipment moves towards France

The shipment is booked for November, with delivery to Orano CE Malvesi in France expected by the end of the calendar year. That is an important distinction for investors: the cargo has been dispatched, but the announcement does not confirm delivery, customer acceptance, realised pricing or revenue recognition.

The departure completes the immediate export step targeted in the first shipment preparations, which included a planned 145,000-pound cargo. Lotus said subsequent shipments are also expected to leave Kayelekera before year-end, offering the next test of whether the operation can move beyond a single milestone and establish a repeatable sales rhythm.

Revenue now depends on delivery and ramp-up

Managing Director Greg Bittar described the despatch as “one of the final steps in delivering product to customers and beginning to generate revenue and cashflows”, while saying the company remains focused on optimising Kayelekera and ramping up production.

That wording leaves the key financial proof points still ahead. The filing gives no shipment value, uranium price, production cost or cash-flow figure. The company must now complete the logistics chain to Orano CE Malvesi, generate further shipments and demonstrate that production can be sustained as Kayelekera moves from restart activity towards regular output.

Bottom Line?

The first cargo validates the export pathway, but the next shipments, customer delivery and reported cash generation will determine whether Kayelekera has reached a durable operating phase.

Questions in the middle?

  • When will Orano CE Malvesi confirm receipt and acceptance of the first shipment?
  • How many additional shipments can Kayelekera dispatch before the end of 2026?
  • What realised pricing, operating costs and cash generation will accompany the first sales?
