Osmond raises A$3.75m to advance Spain’s Orión critical minerals project
Osmond Resources has secured A$3.75 million from a share placement to advance its Orión project in Spain, taking pro forma cash above A$6.5 million. The raise strengthens the company’s near-term funding position, but remains modest against the approximately US$300 million required by its preliminary development study.
- A$3.75 million placement at A$0.50 per share
- Directors and management subscribing for A$770,000
- A$450,000 director component subject to shareholder approval
- Pro forma cash above A$6.5 million including a €250,000 Spanish grant
- Orión remains an exploration-stage project without a JORC Ore Reserve

A$3.75 million placement extends Orión funding runway
Osmond Resources Limited (ASX:OSM) has raised A$3.75 million through a placement of 7.5 million new shares at A$0.50 each, giving the company more cash to advance its Orión EU Critical Minerals Project in southern Spain. The placement was cornerstoned by an existing US-based institutional shareholder, with the company saying both new and existing investors supported the deal.
The issue price represents a 4% discount to Osmond’s last traded price on 29 October and an 8.8% discount to its 10-day VWAP. Directors and management are subscribing for 1.54 million shares worth A$770,000 in total. Of that amount, 900,000 shares valued at A$450,000 require shareholder approval, with Managing Director and CEO Anthony Hall subscribing for A$400,000 and director Lachlan Rutherford for A$50,000.
Cash position improves as Spanish project advances
Osmond said its pro forma cash at bank was above A$6.5 million at 31 October 2026, including a €250,000 Spanish Government grant. That grant had been awarded to Orión in the first round of Spain’s national mineral exploration programme, alongside a planned drilling campaign targeting resource growth and higher-confidence mineralisation, as reported in the maximum Spanish grant.

The new funds are earmarked for Orión project activities and the costs of the capital raising. Osmond controls an 80% interest in 95% of the project-owning vehicle, equating to a 76% beneficial interest. The project covers 232 square kilometres in Jaén Province and contains mineralisation associated with monazite, zircon, rutile and ilmenite, according to the announcement.
Preliminary economics still face a large funding test
The financing follows the October scoping study, which outlined a nine-year, 2 million tonne-per-annum operation producing monazite, zircon and titanium concentrates. The study estimated initial capital of approximately US$299 million, with an accuracy range of plus or minus 35%, and assumed a production target containing 29% Inferred Mineral Resources.
That distinction matters. The study is preliminary, does not establish an Ore Reserve or an assured economic development case, and relies on technical and economic assessments of limited confidence. Osmond’s latest cash position improves its ability to fund the next phase of work, but the company acknowledges that substantial additional financing would be needed and that development funding is not assured.
Director subscriptions await shareholder approval
The placement is being made primarily under Osmond’s existing ASX Listing Rule 7.1A capacity, while the director participation falls under Listing Rule 10.11. Settlement is expected on 9 November, but the A$450,000 director component will not be complete until shareholders vote on it at the next convened meeting.
For shareholders, the immediate test is execution: whether the additional capital translates into resource definition, metallurgical, permitting and development work that can move Orión beyond a scoping-level concept. The company’s ambition to become the EU’s first miner of these minerals remains a stated objective, not an established production outcome.
Bottom Line?
The placement gives Osmond more room to advance Orión, but the decisive financing challenge remains the much larger capital requirement beyond the current exploration and study phase.
Questions in the middle?
- Will shareholders approve the A$450,000 director subscription at the next meeting?
- How will Osmond allocate the new funds between drilling, technical studies and development work?
- Can future resource, metallurgy and permitting results support a financeable project beyond the preliminary scoping study?
