GBM opens six new gold fronts across Twin Hills

GBM Resources has begun drilling six regional gold targets at Twin Hills in Queensland, using historical results and new geophysics to expand exploration beyond its established deposits. The campaign includes targets with high-grade historical intersections, but current drilling results and continuity remain unproven.

  • Drilling underway at Powerline, Flying Fox, Airstrip, L7, Stella and Feilwella
  • Powerline historical results include 11m at 1.70g/t gold and 1m at 43.9g/t
  • New magnetic, radiometric, IP and geochemical data have reshaped target ranking
  • Portable detectORE laboratory commissioned for rapid onsite assay testing
  • Airborne electromagnetic survey begins with partial Queensland government funding

Six Twin Hills targets move into drill testing

GBM Resources Limited (ASX:GBM) has started drilling across six regional targets at its Twin Hills Gold Project in Queensland, widening the campaign beyond the established 309 and Lone Sister deposits. The company is testing Powerline, Flying Fox, Airstrip, L7, Stella and Feilwella as part of a broader effort to identify additional mineralised systems across the Drummond Basin project.

The timing matters because GBM says its resource drilling phase is still awaiting remaining assays and interim modelling. Rather than pause exploration activity, the company is using the intervening period to test targets ranked through a combination of historical drilling, high-resolution magnetic and radiometric surveys, induced polarisation, geochemistry and the geological model developed from recent work at 309, Lone Sister and Stella. That follows resource extension drilling that had extended mineralisation beyond the existing Twin Hills resource.

Powerline carries the strongest historical evidence

Powerline is the most eye-catching of the regional prospects on the numbers disclosed. Historical drilling returned 11 metres at 1.70 grams per tonne gold from 24 metres, including 2 metres at 3.38g/t, while another hole returned 14 metres at 1.75g/t from 19 metres. A separate 1999 hole recorded a narrow 1-metre interval at 43.9g/t from 116 metres.

Those results are historical exploration intersections, reported as downhole lengths with true widths not established. GBM says the current drilling will test their geological setting and possible extensions, rather than treating the old results as evidence of a defined resource. Airstrip also has isolated historical results, including 1 metre at 10.0g/t from 154 metres and 8 metres at 0.83g/t from 150 metres, although the existing drilling has not established consistent continuity.

Geophysics is expanding the target pipeline

The other prospects rely more heavily on the reinterpretation of geophysical and geological clues. Flying Fox sits near 309 and has coincident IP chargeability and resistivity responses alongside magnetic and radiometric anomalies, which GBM interprets as potentially consistent with a hydrothermal breccia or intrusive-related system. L7 lies within a pronounced magnetic low and has only limited historical drilling, including a 1-metre interval at 0.70g/t gold.

At Feilwella, paired chargeability and resistivity highs west of Lone Sister coincide with historical soil geochemistry, rhyolitic units and earlier gold intersections such as 2 metres at 2.52g/t. Stella is being tested for extensions of the BXM host sequence associated with the 309 system, after recent drilling returned 8 metres at 1.31g/t from 126 metres and confirmed the prospective sequence at least 700 metres south of the existing 309 resource.

Rapid assays and airborne EM add exploration speed

GBM has commissioned a Portable PPB detectORE mobile laboratory onsite to support rapid assay test work for reverse-circulation drilling, soils and rock chips. The company has also commenced a project-wide airborne electromagnetic survey, partly funded by the Queensland government. GBM says historical airborne EM work helped delineate the 309 and Lone Sister deposits, although electromagnetic, magnetic and IP anomalies remain targeting tools rather than direct measures of gold grade.

The next test is therefore straightforward but consequential: whether the new drilling converts a collection of historical hits and geophysical signatures into repeatable mineralisation with meaningful scale. The announcement provides no new assay results from the current campaign, and several of the historical datasets carry limitations around recovery, quality control, collar accuracy and true widths. Results from the six prospects, together with the EM interpretation and pending resource-drilling assays, will determine whether Twin Hills has added targets or added ounces.

Bottom Line?

The campaign broadens GBM’s discovery pipeline, but the investment case still depends on current drilling proving continuity, scale and grade beyond historical indications.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will current drilling confirm that Powerline’s high-grade historical intersections form a coherent mineralised system?
  • Can Stella demonstrate a meaningful southern extension of the 309 host sequence and resource footprint?
  • Will the new airborne EM and IP results generate further drill targets that justify sustained exploration expenditure?
