October Sales Reach A$623,469
Freehill Mining Limited (ASX:FHS) has pushed its Chilean aggregates business to a fourth consecutive monthly sales high, reporting October gross sales of A$623,469. The figure was 23% above September's A$506,121 and 36% higher than August, with the Islon plant providing most of the momentum.
The headline number comes with a currency qualification. July and August sales were converted at 610 Chilean pesos per Australian dollar, while September and October used 656 pesos, which reduced the Australian dollar value recorded for the later months. The October result is therefore best read as a gross-sales measure rather than a clean indicator of underlying volume growth.
The latest update builds on the September sales record, which was reported alongside quarterly cash receipts of A$1.107 million and a halving of operating cash outflows to A$189,000. Freehill said input costs were continuing to track down, but the announcement did not provide October profit, margins, cash flow or production volumes.
Islon Upgrade Targets Higher Processing Volumes
Freehill is now upgrading Islon with an additional vertical shaft impact crusher, new screening technology and expanded conveyor capacity. The company said the works are intended to streamline production, improve material handling and support higher processing volumes, with the benefits expected to be realised in the current quarter and beyond.
The equipment program was part of the funding rationale behind the Islon upgrade funding, which included a A$600,000 placement and a proposed A$606,943 entitlement offer. The current release does not quantify the upgrade cost or specify a commissioning date, leaving the next operational test in the production and sales figures that follow completion.
Yerbas Buenas and Copper Plans Remain in View
Yerbas Buenas continues to deliver steady output and, according to Freehill, could become important to planned infrastructure investment near the project. The company also remains focused on moving the Blanco y Negro copper-gold deposit towards ready-to-mine status, while advancing its broader Chilean copper portfolio.
For shareholders, the attraction of the latest figures is the prospect of a larger operating base funding more of the company's next steps. The unresolved question is whether rising gross sales and lower input costs translate into durable cash generation once the Islon upgrades are running at scale, rather than simply another strong monthly headline.
Bottom Line?
The sales trend is encouraging, but the next meaningful evidence will be post-upgrade volumes, margins and cash generation rather than gross sales alone.
Questions in the middle?
- Can the upgraded Islon plant convert higher processing capacity into sustained monthly sales growth?
- How much of the recent sales improvement is volume-driven after allowing for Chilean peso conversion effects?
- Will aggregates cash generation be sufficient to support Blanco y Negro permitting and future copper development?
