Hire Purchase Debt Falls to $12.8 Million
SSH Group Ltd (ASX:SSH) has cut its hire purchase debt by approximately $7.5 million, or 37%, to $12.8 million as at 31 October 2026. That reduction was achieved while the company continued operating a rental fleet of more than 250 mining and civil assets, alongside attachments and secondary hire equipment.
The comparison starts with approximately $16.7 million of hire purchase debt in October 2025 and adds around $3.6 million in equipment finance obligations assumed through the May 2026 acquisition of Elphinstone Mechanical Services. Against that combined exposure of approximately $20.3 million, the current balance represents a substantial reduction, although SSH did not disclose the cash flow or repayment detail behind the movement.
For shareholders, the central question is whether the lower debt burden can be sustained without constraining fleet capacity. The company’s stated focus remains on reducing financial obligations while continuing to use its equipment base across its industrial services operations.
EMS Integration Targets Lower Costs
SSH has completed the first phase of integrating EMS into its Hire division. After the completed EMS acquisition expanded the group’s industrial services footprint, Perth-based EMS and KMH operational and management teams have now been consolidated.
The company says the integration is intended to remove duplicated functions across administration, shared resources, internal support and operating processes. SSH is targeting cost savings, better resource utilisation and cross-selling across the combined customer base, but has not quantified expected savings or reported any realised benefit yet. A refreshed brand identity now links the businesses to SSH while retaining their established market names and customer relationships.
Crawford Contract Still Awaits Binding Agreement
SSH Mining continues to negotiate a proposed Mining Services Agreement with Cavalier Resources Limited (ASX:CVR) for Stage 1 of the Crawford Gold Project, about 20 kilometres east of Leonora in Western Australia. SSH was selected as preferred mining services contractor for the oxide pit, where active mining is currently estimated to run for approximately 12 months.
The opportunity could expand SSH’s contract mining activity, but the commercial outcome is not yet secured. Following the Crawford services letter entered earlier in the project’s development, the parties are still working towards a binding agreement, with no contract value, mobilisation date or operating forecast disclosed.
SSH also said none of the multiple mine ownership and acquisition opportunities it assessed over recent months is currently being pursued. Its stated preference is for near-term production assets or restart opportunities where its equipment, workforce and mining capabilities could be combined with an ownership or strategic investment position. The company has formally appointed Dipal Raithatha as CFO after he spent about 12 months performing the role and previously served as group financial controller.
The next hard evidence will need to come from two places: a signed Crawford agreement with disclosed economics, and proof that EMS integration delivers measurable savings without eroding fleet utilisation. SSH’s 2026 annual general meeting is scheduled for 26 November, but the more consequential milestones sit in execution rather than governance.
Bottom Line?
The debt reduction is tangible, but the next test is converting integration work and the proposed Crawford contract into disclosed operating gains.
Questions in the middle?
- Will SSH and Cavalier Resources finalise a binding Crawford Mining Services Agreement, and on what commercial terms?
- How much of the targeted EMS cost reduction will be realised, and when will it appear in reported results?
- Can SSH continue reducing equipment finance obligations while maintaining or expanding its rental fleet?
