Toubani uncovers new high-grade zones ahead of Kobada resource update

Toubani Resources has reported high-grade RC drilling at Kobada Main and Gosso in Mali, including a 55-metre interval at 3.30g/t gold. The results are being folded into an imminent resource update, while Gosso moves closer to becoming a second satellite ore source for the project.

  • 55m at 3.30g/t gold at Kobada Main, including 7m at 5.93g/t
  • Gosso results confirm mineralisation across 2.8km of strike
  • Gosso to join Foroko as a supplementary ore source in the development pipeline
  • Kobada MRE due in the coming weeks, with updated reserves and mine plan expected in early January 2027
  • Reported intersections are downhole lengths and true widths have not been calculated

Toubani Resources Limited (ASX:TRE) has found some of its strongest recent drill results at Kobada, with a 55-metre interval grading 3.30g/t gold at the Main Deposit and multiple high-grade zones at the nearby Gosso prospect. The results arrive just as the company prepares to complete a Mineral Resource Estimate update that could reshape the development case for its southern Mali gold project.

The standout Kobada Main hole, KBRC26_VT004, also returned 23 metres at 3.83g/t gold from 200 metres, including 2 metres at 26.8g/t, and 19 metres at 4.52g/t from 231 metres, including 10 metres at 5.99g/t. Other holes produced 18 metres at 3.46g/t and 4 metres at 26.8g/t, along with 50 metres at 1.16g/t.

Kobada Main Results Feed Imminent Resource Estimate

The drilling targeted the footwall contact at Kobada Main, where the company says some zones were more substantial at depth than the existing mineralisation interpretation. Toubani expects the new data to improve confidence in the near-surface interpretation to 100 metres, which covers the early phases of planned mining, while potentially adding resources between 100 and 200 metres.

Those are expectations rather than declared additions. The holes will be incorporated into the current MRE, due in the coming weeks, followed by an updated Ore Reserve, mine plan and schedule targeted for early January 2027. Toubani’s existing Kobada resource stands at 2.2 million ounces from 78 million tonnes at 0.88g/t, based on the company’s 2024 estimate, while its stated reserve is 1.56 million ounces from 53.8 million tonnes at 0.90g/t.

The news extends a run of drilling-led updates at the project, including the earlier Kobada high-grade drilling that also fed into resource and mine-planning work. The immediate test is whether the latest intersections translate into changes to tonnes, grade, reserves or the mine schedule rather than simply adding attractive isolated assays.

Gosso Emerges as Second Satellite Ore Source

At Gosso, RC drilling on a 50-metre by 50-metre grid confirmed mineralisation along 2.8 kilometres of strike, with the zone still open along strike and at depth. Results included 5 metres at 13.8g/t gold, including 2 metres at 32.3g/t, plus 1 metre at 38.6g/t, 8 metres at 3.18g/t and 6 metres at 3.70g/t.

Most of the reported Gosso intersections are in oxide material, although fresh rock was encountered in 2026 drilling at the deposit’s northern end. Gosso sits 5km from the Kobada processing plant under construction and is now being advanced alongside Foroko as a supplementary ore source. The company previously reported Foroko high-grade drilling, making the satellite deposits an increasingly important part of its proposed operating pipeline.

Gosso does not yet have a maiden resource. Toubani plans further drilling after the Kobada MRE is completed, with a maiden Gosso MRE targeted for 2027. The company is also continuing drilling at Kobada South before grade-control drilling begins later this month.

Upcoming Resource and Mine Plan Milestones

Toubani says construction remains on track while it works towards targeted mining commencement at the beginning of 2027. The sequencing leaves little room for the resource update, reserve conversion and mine-plan work to drift if the new drilling is to influence pre-production decisions.

Investors therefore have two distinct questions to separate: how much of the high-grade drilling improves the defined Kobada inventory, and whether Gosso can be converted from promising exploration into dependable supplementary feed. The assays are encouraging, but they remain exploration results reported as downhole lengths; true widths have not been calculated and the commercial impact awaits the technical studies.

Bottom Line?

The next decisive catalyst is not another isolated high-grade intercept but the forthcoming MRE and January reserve and mine-plan update, which will show whether the drilling changes the build plan.

Questions in the middle?

  • How much will the Kobada Main drilling alter tonnes, grade or confidence in the updated MRE?
  • Can Gosso’s open mineralisation be converted into a maiden resource and a practical supplementary feed schedule?
  • Will the updated reserve and mine plan preserve the targeted early-2027 mining timetable as construction progresses?
