RareX has moved Cummins Range through key permitting and heritage milestones, while stronger metallurgical results broaden the project’s critical-minerals potential. But the explorer’s annual loss widened to A$5.07 million, cash burn remained high and its going-concern assessment still depends on future funding and project development.

Pure Resources finished 2026 with $3.67 million in cash and no debt after raising $4.7 million, but its annual loss widened as it shifted from explorer to a Garnet Hills-led advanced materials platform. The company is now pursuing garnet abrasives, jumbo flake graphite and heavy rare earth recovery through US research and defence partnerships.

Mount Ridley Mines has used its FY2026 annual report to put scale and processing progress at the centre of its Grass Patch story, including a post-year-end scandium resource upgrade to 946.1 million tonnes. The company remains loss-making and pre-production, but September testwork reported approximately 92% scandium recovery and average heavy rare earth recovery of about 84%.

Heavy Rare Earths has identified high-grade heavy rare earth zones at Subron while preparing drilling across its South Australian portfolio. But the FY2026 report also highlights a material uncertainty over the company’s ability to continue as a going concern, with only $459,327 in cash at year-end.

American Rare Earths has expanded the proposed Cowboy State Mine in Wyoming to a 4.5 million tonne per year operation with a 26-year mine plan and an estimated after-tax NPV of US$1.07 billion. The stronger study case comes with higher capital, lower recoveries and no Ore Reserves, leaving metallurgy, permitting and funding as the next tests.

Basin Energy has more than doubled the mineralised footprint of its Newmans rare earth discovery to 6.7km, with follow-up drilling also producing the strongest magnet rare earth interval reported so far. Sovereign Metals has expanded Kasiya into a potential rutile, graphite and heavy rare earths project, with a rare earths study adding an estimated US$722 million of pre-tax NPV8. The opportunity comes with a sharper execution challenge: Rio Tinto will not become operator, while Sovereign still needs a mining licence, binding offtakes and substantial funding.

ACDC Metals has joined a U.S.-backed defence consortium, giving its Goschen Central rare earths project a route into government solicitations, research partnerships and potential offtake discussions. The membership is strategically significant, but it is not a funding award or contract.

Basin Energy has begun preliminary leachability and XRD studies at its Newmans rare earth discovery, with follow-up drilling assays due imminently. The early-stage program adds a recoverability test to a project already showing a 3.3 km mineralised corridor in northwest Queensland.
