Open Mineralisation at Ada Ann Raises Mining Potential but Questions Remain

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Forrestania Resources has reported impressive high-grade gold intercepts up to 26g/t Au from its phase 2 drilling at the Ada Ann prospect, extending the mineralisation footprint and confirming strong potential for mining.

  • Phase 2 drilling confirms high-grade gold up to 26g/t Au
  • Mineralisation footprint extended ~60m south and ~30m north
  • Strike length increased to approximately 310m and remains open
  • Consistent mineralised structures confirmed at depth and along strike
  • Further drilling planned alongside exploration at Lady Lila prospect

Ada Ann Phase 2 Drilling Delivers High-Grade Gold Results

Forrestania Resources Limited (ASX: FRS) has announced the latest assay results from its phase 2 reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Ada Ann prospect, part of the Bonnie Vale Project near Coolgardie in Western Australia's prolific Eastern Goldfields. The results confirm the presence of high-grade gold mineralisation, with standout intercepts including 7 metres at 4.3 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, highlighted by a 1-metre interval grading 25.6g/t Au.

The phase 2 drilling, comprising 14 holes for 1,017 metres, was designed to follow up on earlier phase 1 success and to expand the known mineralised zones both laterally and at depth. The program has extended the mineralisation footprint approximately 60 metres to the south and 30 metres to the north of historic mineralisation, increasing the strike length to around 310 metres. Importantly, the mineralisation remains open in all directions, suggesting further upside potential.

Consistent Mineralised Structures and Mining Potential

The drilling results reveal consistent geological structures hosting gold mineralisation, with multiple significant intercepts confirming the high-grade nature of the system. Notable results include 3 metres at 7.8g/t Au (including 1m at 22.2g/t), and 3 metres at 5.9g/t Au (including 1m at 16g/t). These findings align with earlier phase 1 results and historic drilling, reinforcing the prospect's robust gold potential.

Forrestania's Chairman, John Hannaford, emphasised the significance of these results, noting the thickening of mineralised zones at depth and the extension of mineralisation along strike. The relatively shallow dip of the mineralised structure (estimated at 25°-30°) means that down-hole widths reported are close to true widths, enhancing the prospect's attractiveness for potential mining operations.

Strategic Location and Next Steps

The Bonnie Vale Project is strategically located within a well-endowed gold region, close to major mines such as the Mungari operation. Forrestania's Ada Ann prospect benefits from this proximity, with exploration targeting a shear-hosted gold system within the Hampton Hill Formation.

Following the phase 2 drilling results, Forrestania plans to shift focus to drilling at the Lady Lila prospect while continuing analysis and planning for further drilling at Ada Ann. The company remains optimistic about expanding the mineralisation footprint and advancing the project towards resource definition and potential development.

Bottom Line?

Ada Ann’s high-grade results and open mineralisation set the stage for Forrestania’s next exploration push and potential resource growth.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will Forrestania prioritise further drilling between Ada Ann and Lady Lila prospects?
  • What timeline can investors expect for a maiden resource estimate at Ada Ann?
  • How might these results impact Forrestania’s project valuation and funding strategy?
