Exploration Upside and Resource Growth: What Kamperman’s High-Grade Gold Means for Astral
Astral Resources has reported compelling high-grade gold assay results from in-fill drilling at its Kamperman Deposit, reinforcing the potential of its Feysville Gold Project near Kalgoorlie. Concurrently, regional air-core drilling has unveiled new gold anomalism zones, setting the stage for further exploration.
- High-grade gold confirmed at Kamperman Deposit via 17 in-fill RC drill holes
- Gold mineralisation linked to sheared ultramafic and porphyry contacts
- Regional air-core drilling identifies new gold anomalism areas at Feysville
- Ongoing and planned drilling at Mandilla and Spargoville projects
- Consolidated Mineral Resource Estimate totals 1.76 million ounces of gold
Kamperman Deposit Delivers Strong Assay Results
Astral Resources (ASX – AAR) has released assay results from 17 in-fill reverse circulation (RC) drill holes at its Kamperman Deposit, part of the Feysville Gold Project located approximately 14 kilometres south of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The drilling program, encompassing 2,440 metres, was designed to test the orientation and extent of high-grade gold mineralisation within the deposit.
Noteworthy intersections include 9 metres at 5.01 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 127 metres, featuring a standout 1 metre at 23.8 g/t, and 4 metres at 12.2 g/t gold including a remarkable 1 metre at 44.3 g/t. These results confirm that gold mineralisation is strongly associated with sheared ultramafic and porphyry contacts, validating geological models that identify these structures as key controls on high-grade zones.
Regional Exploration Uncovers New Targets
Beyond Kamperman, Astral completed a substantial reconnaissance air-core (AC) drilling program comprising 313 holes over 8,364 metres across the broader Feysville tenement package. This program targeted previously underexplored areas including the Empire Rose Prospect and the Central Feysville Anticline. The AC drilling identified several new zones of gold anomalism, particularly along a northeast-trending structure at Central Feysville, which presents a strike length opportunity exceeding 300 metres.
These findings have laid the groundwork for follow-up RC drilling anticipated in the September quarter, aimed at delineating these newly identified targets and assessing their potential contribution to the project’s resource base.
Mandilla and Spargoville Projects Progress
At the Mandilla Gold Project, located 70 kilometres south of Kalgoorlie, Astral has completed a 17-hole RC drill program at the Iris deposit, with assay results pending. Concurrently, a 24-hole RC program is underway at the Hestia deposit, targeting southern strike extensions on the recently acquired Spargoville tenure.
Looking ahead, Astral plans a comprehensive 10,000-metre exploration program across Spargoville, a region known for hosting significant gold deposits such as the Wattle Dam Gold Mine. This initiative aims to evaluate the broader mineralised potential of the Spargoville Shear Corridor, a major structural feature with proven gold endowment.
Consolidated Mineral Resource Base Strengthens
Astral’s consolidated Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) now stands at 50 million tonnes at an average grade of 1.1 g/t gold, equating to approximately 1.76 million ounces of contained gold across its Mandilla, Feysville, and Spargoville projects. This robust resource foundation supports the company’s ambition to develop a significant gold operation in the Kalgoorlie region.
Managing Director Marc Ducler highlighted the strategic importance of these results, noting that the Kamperman deposit remains open along strike and at depth, with further drilling required to fully define its extent. He also emphasised the value of the newly identified regional targets and the expanded exploration footprint through the Spargoville acquisition.
Bottom Line?
Astral Resources’ latest drilling success at Kamperman and expanding exploration pipeline position it well for advancing a major gold development in Western Australia.
Questions in the middle?
- How will pending assay results from Mandilla’s Iris deposit influence the overall resource profile?
- What is the timeline and scale for the upcoming RC drilling at new Feysville targets?
- To what extent can mineralisation at Spargoville extend known deposits along the Spargoville Shear Corridor?
