Resource Upside Emerges as Astral Reports Exceptional Gold Grades at Kamperman
Astral Resources has reported exceptional high-grade gold assay results within the pit shell at its Kamperman deposit, bolstering the Mandilla Pre-Feasibility Study and highlighting growth potential across its Feysville Gold Project.
- High-grade gold assays up to 100.7g/t Au at Kamperman
- Geotechnical diamond drilling supports pit design and resource expansion
- Significant supergene mineralisation at Rogan Josh and Think Big deposits
- Ongoing regional drilling programs at Feysville, Mandilla, and Spargoville
- Updated Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve estimates confirm substantial contained gold
Exceptional High-Grade Intersections at Kamperman
Astral Resources (ASX – AAR) has delivered a compelling update from its 100%-owned Feysville Gold Project, located just 14 kilometres south of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The company reported assay results from 15 geotechnical diamond drill holes completed during the March quarter, revealing high-grade gold mineralisation within the optimised pit shell at the Kamperman deposit. Notably, one hole returned an extraordinary 0.6 metres at 100.7 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, underscoring the potential for shallow, high-grade shoots that could materially enhance the project's economics.
These results were part of a program primarily designed to gather geotechnical data to support detailed pit wall designs for Kamperman, Rogan Josh, and Think Big deposits, all satellite deposits feeding into the Mandilla Gold Project's recently completed Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS). While resource identification was not the program's main objective, the high-grade intersections, including 4.7 metres at 30.6g/t Au and 2.1 metres at 32.8g/t Au at Kamperman, suggest significant upside potential beyond the current resource boundaries.
Supporting Growth Across Multiple Deposits
At Rogan Josh, drilling intersected 3.9 metres at 5.26g/t Au, including a high-grade 0.7-metre section at 13.2g/t Au, while Think Big delivered 5.2 metres at 3.93g/t Au, highlighting the presence of supergene mineralisation that could contribute to near-term production. These findings reinforce the strategic value of the Feysville deposits as satellite ore sources for Mandilla, which aims for a combined production target of 1.41 million ounces of gold.
Complementing these results, Astral has completed or is progressing several reverse circulation (RC) drilling programs across its broader portfolio. At Mandilla, a 19-hole RC program at the Iris deposit is complete with assays pending, while a 24-hole program at Hestia has been interpreted to sterilise key infrastructure areas and explore extensions. Theia is undergoing an extensive 99-hole in-fill drilling campaign to tighten resource confidence ahead of the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS), with a diamond drill rig scheduled to commence a 3,000-metre program targeting high-grade zones.
Regional Exploration and Resource Updates
Exploration activity is also advancing at the Spargoville Project, where a 90-hole program is underway targeting multiple prospects. Following this, Astral will conduct a 41-hole lithium-focused RC program in partnership with the KOMIR joint venture, reflecting diversification in its exploration strategy.
Consolidated Mineral Resource Estimates across Astral’s projects now stand at approximately 1.76 million ounces of gold, with Ore Reserves totaling over 1 million ounces at Mandilla and additional ounces at Feysville. These figures are underpinned by rigorous sampling and assay protocols, including the use of advanced photon assay techniques, ensuring robust data quality for ongoing mine planning.
Looking Ahead – From Pre-Feasibility to Definitive Studies
Managing Director Marc Ducler emphasised the significance of these results as a de-risking milestone that not only supports detailed mine designs but also opens avenues for resource growth. The company is focused on advancing the DFS, with key workstreams including process plant tendering, environmental approvals, and native title agreements progressing on schedule.
With high-grade gold intersections emerging outside previously defined resource extents, Astral Resources is well positioned to enhance the value of its gold projects. The combination of ongoing exploration success and methodical feasibility work underscores the company’s commitment to unlocking the full potential of its Western Australian assets.
Bottom Line?
Astral’s high-grade gold discoveries within pit shells signal promising resource growth, setting the stage for critical DFS milestones and potential value uplift.
Questions in the middle?
- Will upcoming assay results from Mandilla and Spargoville confirm further resource expansions?
- How will the high-grade shoots at Kamperman influence the final mine design and economics?
