Galan Lithium’s Hombre Muerto West Nears Production with Nano-Filtration Plant En Route

Progress on Critical Infrastructure

Galan Lithium Limited (ASX – GLN) has reported significant strides in the development of its Hombre Muerto West (HMW) lithium project in Argentina. The company has completed assembly and pre-installation testing of its nano-filtration plant in Sydney, a vital component for lithium chloride production. This plant is now en route to South America, with commissioning expected to begin shortly after arrival in early 2026.

Site Developments and Production Readiness

On-site, Galan has made notable progress with the redesign and scaling of evaporation ponds 4 and 5 to support the Phase 1 production target of 4,000 tonnes per annum of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE). Liner installations for these ponds are complete, and subdivision work is underway to optimize lithium concentration. Additionally, earthworks and concrete foundations for the processing plant have been finalized, with procurement of key infrastructure such as power and pumping systems advancing in line with the project schedule.

On Track and Exploring Expansion

The company remains confident in delivering Phase 1 within budget and on schedule, aiming for first lithium chloride production in the first half of 2026. Encouragingly, Galan is also assessing the feasibility of increasing Phase 1 production capacity from the current 4,000 tpa LCE to approximately 5,400 tpa LCE, as outlined in its 2023 Definitive Feasibility Study. This potential expansion could enhance the project’s output and strengthen its position in the lithium market.

Strategic Positioning in the Lithium Triangle

HMW is one of the world’s top lithium brine projects, distinguished by its large, high-purity mineral resource and low-cost production profile. Situated in Argentina’s lithium triangle, the project benefits from the country’s RIGI investment framework, offering fiscal stability and tax incentives. Galan’s Managing Director, Juan Pablo Vargas de la Vega, highlighted the team’s momentum and commitment as the project moves into its final construction and commissioning phase, signaling a promising transition to production.

As Galan Lithium approaches a critical milestone with the imminent commissioning of its nano-filtration plant and ongoing site works, the company is poised to join the ranks of lithium producers in 2026.
