  • Fire services contract for large Sydney distribution centre

Expanding Footprint Across Australia

Southern Cross Electrical Engineering Limited (SCEE Group) has announced a significant haul of contract awards totalling $75 million, spanning key Australian states including Western Australia, New South Wales, and the Australian Capital Territory. This latest round of contracts highlights the company’s broad geographic reach and diverse sector exposure, from mining and data centres to cultural infrastructure and logistics facilities.

Continuing Partnership at Sino Iron

At the heart of the Western Australian awards is a two-year Master Services Agreement with CITIC Pacific Mining Management Pty Ltd for electrical maintenance and repair services at the Sino Iron Project. This contract extends a relationship that has been ongoing since 2015, underscoring SCEE’s trusted position in servicing one of the country’s largest magnetite mining operations.

Data Centre Expansion in Sydney

In New South Wales, SCEE’s subsidiary Heyday has been awarded four additional electrical work packages at a hyperscale data centre in Sydney’s west, bringing the total number of packages at this site to ten. These works, awarded by Taylor Construction Group, are slated for immediate commencement with completion targeted for November 2026, reflecting the rapid growth in demand for data infrastructure.

Cultural Infrastructure in the ACT

Heyday has also secured the main electrical, communications, and security contract for the new Canberra Lyric Theatre under a design and construct agreement with Multiplex Constructions. This project, scheduled to start early 2026 and complete by mid-2028, will deliver a state-of-the-art 2,000-seat venue featuring an all-electric design and innovative architectural lighting, enhancing Canberra’s cultural landscape.

Fire Services for Major Distribution Centre

Adding to the portfolio, Force Fire, another SCEE subsidiary, has been awarded the fire services contract for a 100,000 square metre distribution centre in southwest Sydney by Richard Crookes Constructions. The facility will support a major retail chain’s omnichannel fulfilment operations, with Force Fire responsible for comprehensive fire protection systems. Construction is underway with base building completion expected mid-2026 and fit-out continuing through late 2027.

A Testament to Quality and Client Trust

SCEE Group Managing Director Graeme Dunn highlighted the significance of these awards as evidence of the group’s quality delivery and strong client relationships, noting many contracts are repeat engagements. This consistency not only reinforces SCEE’s reputation but also provides a stable platform for future growth across multiple sectors and regions.

Bottom Line?

With $75 million in fresh contracts, Southern Cross Electrical Engineering is poised to strengthen its market position and deliver on a diverse pipeline through 2028.

Questions in the middle?

  • What are the expected profit margins on these new contracts?
  • How will these projects impact SCEE’s revenue mix and geographic exposure?
  • Are there plans to expand further into other sectors or regions following these awards?
