Fourth Discovery Boosts North Kalgoorlie Momentum

Gorilla Gold Mines Ltd (ASX:GG8) has added a fourth shallow gold discovery at its Comet Vale Gold Project in Western Australia, naming the new zone Diddy Kong. This discovery comes just three weeks after the company announced new finds at the nearby Magilla and Donkey Kong prospects, underscoring a rapid succession of encouraging results within the North Kalgoorlie Hub, which now hosts a 1.2 million ounce gold resource at 3.7 grams per tonne.

Diddy Kong’s initial drilling returned multiple shallow intercepts, including 8 metres at 3.2 g/t from 14 metres and 4 metres at 2.6 g/t from 64 metres, with mineralisation remaining open along strike and at depth. The prospect lies within a 1-kilometre soil anomaly corridor, suggesting significant upside potential. The mineralisation style closely resembles that of the nearby Lakeview deposit, which contains 350,000 ounces, as well as the Magilla and Donkey Kong discoveries.

Aggressive Follow-Up and Multi-Rig Drilling Program

In response to these discoveries, Gorilla is mobilising an additional reverse circulation (RC) rig to accelerate drilling at Comet Vale. Six rigs are currently active across the company’s portfolio, including diamond drilling at the Sovereign Deposit and Mulwarrie Project, as well as exploration at the Vivien Project.

CEO Charles Hughes highlighted the value of reinterpreting historical data with modern geological insights, noting the breakthrough came from drilling in the opposite orientation to previous operators. This approach has unlocked new gold systems that had been overlooked, echoing successes seen by peers like Spartan Resources at Dalgaranga. The company plans aggressive follow-up drilling at the trio of shallow discoveries; Magilla, Donkey Kong, and Diddy Kong; all located in close proximity.

Strategic Location and Infrastructure Advantages

The North Kalgoorlie Hub, comprising Comet Vale and Mulwarrie projects, remains historically underexplored despite its proximity to established milling and transport infrastructure. Comet Vale itself has a mineral resource estimate of 860,000 ounces at 3.7 g/t, with historical underground production exceeding 200,000 ounces at grades above 20 g/t. The project sits within granted mining leases and benefits from nearby operational gold mills within 100 kilometres.

The company’s ongoing resource growth drilling at Sovereign, including a recently announced high-grade footwall lode, continues to add depth and scale to the hub’s resource base. This momentum builds on the company’s substantial resource additions in 2025, when it added over one million ounces through targeted drilling programs.

Exploration Techniques and Assay Confidence

Gorilla’s exploration employs a combination of RC and diamond drilling, with samples analysed using photon assay methods known for quick turnaround and high accuracy. The company also utilises ultra-fine fraction soil sampling to delineate geochemical anomalies. Quality control measures, including certified reference materials and field duplicates, underpin the reliability of the assay data.

The recent Diddy Kong drilling followed up historical intercepts that had been drilled at suboptimal orientations, with the new program confirming the presence of shallow gold mineralisation. Assay results are pending from ongoing drilling at other targets such as Happy Jack, where previous intercepts included 21 metres at 11.6 g/t.

Gorilla’s CEO remarked that the discovery of Lakeview last year was transformative, and the rapid identification of multiple new prospects in recent weeks points to a camp-scale gold system emerging at Comet Vale. The company’s strategy to discover, define, and develop resources is supported by established infrastructure and permitting progress, positioning it well to advance these discoveries toward production.

As the company pushes forward with resource growth and exploration, the North Kalgoorlie Hub’s underexplored status and extensive high-priority drill targets suggest further discoveries may be on the horizon.
