Gorilla Gold Mines Unveils 55g/t Gold Intercept and Starts Vivien Mine De-Watering
Gorilla Gold Mines has struck a spectacular new high-grade gold intercept at its Vivien Project in WA and secured underground mine de-watering to unlock redevelopment options.
- 2.1m at 55.4g/t Au intercept at Vince Prospect
- Agreement to commence de-watering of Vivien underground mine
- Further high-grade hits at Val Prospect near existing workings
- Vivien hosts 278,000oz resource at 4.2g/t Au, historic production 370,000oz at 5.5g/t
- Drilling ongoing across North Kalgoorlie Hub for resource growth
New High-Grade Gold Discovery at Vince Prospect
Gorilla Gold Mines Ltd (ASX:GG8) has delivered a standout exploration result at its Vivien Gold Project in Western Australia, revealing a 2.1-metre intercept grading 55.4 grams per tonne gold at the previously untested Vince Prospect. Located about 400 metres north of the historic Vivien underground mine, this intercept is among the highest-grade hits recorded on the project to date and sits within a geological setting mirroring the main Vivien lode.
The Vince Prospect discovery, identified through drilling co-funded by the Western Australian Exploration Incentive Scheme, intercepted multiple gold-bearing quartz veins and an off-hole down-hole electromagnetic (DHEM) conductor, signalling potential for further high-grade vein discoveries along strike. The mineralisation is interpreted as a structural repeat of the Vivien Main system, suggesting the project’s gold system is more extensive than previously understood.
Val Prospect Confirms Additional High-Grade Zones Near Infrastructure
Complementing the Vince breakthrough, drilling at the Val Prospect; located within 70 metres of existing underground development; returned encouraging results including 4.1 metres at 5.3g/t Au and 7.1 metres at 2.0g/t Au. The Val mineralisation, hosted in quartz veins within porphyritic basalts and ultramafic units, responds well to DHEM targeting due to associated pyrrhotite, enabling precise follow-up drilling.
These results reinforce the notion that Vivien is not a single orebody but a complex, multi-lode gold system with several high-grade shoots that could support a larger mining operation.
De-Watering Agreement Opens Door to Underground Access
In a strategic development, Gorilla Gold has executed an agreement with a subsidiary of Goldfields Ltd to commence de-watering of the fully permitted Vivien underground mine. Pumping operations are set to begin in the coming weeks, which will facilitate underground access for drilling, detailed geological mapping, and technical assessments.
Restoring underground access is a pivotal milestone, providing the company with optionality to evaluate redevelopment opportunities at a project that has historically produced 370,000 ounces at an average grade exceeding 5.5g/t Au. The current Mineral Resource Estimate stands at 278,000 ounces grading 4.2g/t Au, underscoring the project’s substantial high-grade endowment.
Broader Exploration Momentum Across North Kalgoorlie Hub
Beyond Vivien, Gorilla Gold continues to advance its North Kalgoorlie Hub portfolio, with ongoing drilling campaigns targeting resource growth at Sovereign and follow-up of recent regional discoveries. The company’s CEO, Charles Hughes, highlighted the exploration team’s success and the potential for further high-grade discoveries across its portfolio.
Upcoming drilling at Vivien is scheduled for August 2026, prioritising follow-up at Vince and completion of DHEM surveys. This aggressive exploration approach aligns with the company’s strategy to unlock value across its high-quality Goldfields assets.
Bottom Line?
Vivien’s new high-grade intercept and underground access plan mark a critical juncture for Gorilla Gold, setting the stage for accelerated resource growth and feasibility studies.
Questions in the middle?
- Will follow-up drilling at Vince confirm the extent of this new high-grade system?
- How quickly can underground access be restored and utilised for detailed technical work?
- What impact will these discoveries have on Vivien’s development timeline and capital requirements?
